Should we have a fish hook rating?

This seems needlessly complicated. Post ratings are a good idea in general, but there are way too many options and there's way too much overlap between the options. What's wrong with having just like/dislike/autistic?
I think there's room for options like A-Log, late, creative, funny etc. I just think there should only be like 6-7 available. Enough options so people can have specific enough opinions.

I don't think there's any reason why you can't restrict yourself to those buttons if you personally don't want to use the rest.

I'm not trying to completely dismiss what you're saying, I get it, but the question is: Is there any reason not to have finer selections?

You can agree to something but not like it, for instance. You can like something particularly because it's friendly or funny. You can dislike or disagree with a post, but not think it's autistic. You can think something is autistic, but not dumb.

In the grand scheme thing of things, it's just taking the like system and making many flavors of it.

Agreed. There's a reason why I tried to limit the amount of emoticons, or at least hid the majority of them from the default view. It's okay to have fun stuff, but once 100% of stuff is stupid jerkoff bullshit, it all loses meaning.

If only there was some sort of way for people to express their opinions on a forum.

(Srsly though: Streamline it into three icons for rating a post positive/negative/other, with an option for sub-ratings, maybe? Not sure how much effort that would be to implement. Right now it's just this gigantic mess.)

/EDIT: I'm way too slow for this thread. Pretend this a response to Null above as well.

No, that's exactly the point. I want to get rid of posts. We get far too many, especially in busy topics.

How many posts are just shit like, ":alog:", or "wow yeah I agree great post"? How many replies to late information are just telling them that it's already been posted?

This information is CONSTANT, and it applies to every thread. "I like this", "that made me laugh", "this was informative", "this has already been posted", "what the fuck are you on about you sperg" -- these are forum universal constants, and removing posts like that from the conversation is a good thing.

I agree. Not everyone feels like taking the time to post and this system streamlines it and provides a simple enough solution.

Fair enough. Maybe this could work, though I still think there's too much overlap between some of the possible ratings.

One of the Chris emotes needs to appear as a "Probably Chris" remark. Also a "Hi Anna" since we have the antithesis, "Hi A-Log" as a remark.

Also this is my first post outside of the Discussion forum since I was intrigued/confused about what all of these things meant. Congratulations on distracting me. (For the record, I think Facepunch is a shitty forum.)

Worst case scenario is those posts don't go away and AT LEAST YOU TRIED!
