"Post your Art" Thread

Another 30 minute painting. One of the themes was "smugness".

I use a Canon EOS 1200D; it's a pretty simple beginnere's camera but is really good value for money. And nah, it's from a series Konami released way back in 2006 called Mecha Musume — I picked it up at London Comic Con for not very much.
Do you do any editing of the images? Like color balance, adjusting the curves, etc.?

A little, but only when I'm not planning to post the photos anywhere. The format used takes up too much space.
So, you only use tools to make your image better, when you aren't going to show them to people? I heavily urge you to reconsider what you are doing about that. And if space is the issue, maybe you could try saving them at sizes under 20,000,000 pixels? (i.e. 5000 x 4000 px) Especially when there isn't any detail being lost. Post-editing takes seconds and it makes an ok picture becomes a good picture:

Notice that the heightened contrast gives more focus to the lane between the benches and what lies at the front? This took me 30 seconds to adjust the curves. I highly recommend you try doing some post editing with what you're going to show people.

Probably didn't give the clearest response to the question; I tweak the color values depending on the photo (the 1st and 5th ones, for example, have been modified where necessary) but I don't tend to change the curves as that only really affects CR2 files. Most of the photos I selected are just ones I grabbed at random.

I always adjust curves, in everything, usually as I am working on it. It is almost like cheating to get the exact values you want in a work.

anyone who redlines this will get a virtual dick suckin and my eternal gratitude.

A character design thing where we were given descriptions of the Shrike from Dan Simmons' Hyperion (which I have never read, mind you) and asked to draw it based on the descriptions alone.

It's a bit messy, but have this (and if any Kiwis have read Hyperion, tell me if I'm not too far off o/)

I like to adjust whenever it's necessary. Some shots require less editing than others, but it doesn't hurt to do so.

That being said, I generally don't edit my film stuff. I don't really see much of a need to unless it's really necessary.
