Post Your Simple Pleasures - Those little things that almost make your life worth living

When winter finally lets go of spring and you feel the warmth of the sun for the first time in months.
When you're out on bright days and the world looks vibrant and alive.
Swimming in the ocean when it's clear enough to see the bottom and warm enough to stay in.
Walking around places you rarely go to and everything feels fresh and new.
When you're driving and a song you haven't heard in years comes up on the radio.
Hearing a new song and getting to find out what it is.
Working on a project in a flow state and knowing exactly how things should be.
Finishing the project and being stunned that you even made it.
Finding something you can hold onto.
Remembering something you'd want to, but think you'd forget.
Being grateful you're alive and able to experience the world.

Living in a small country town.

On a still night, I hear silence. No birds, no other creatures, no wind... nothing but silence.

Looking at the sky on a cloudless night during a new moon, where the complete absence of light pollution means I can walk into my backyard and see all the stars.

Walking to the pub on a Friday or Saturday night, having a few beers, talking shit with the other patrons, and then walking home.

Lying in a hammock under the back porch or in the shadehouse.

Seeing the sun rise over the farm across the road from me, and seeing the sun set through the massive gum trees out the back.

Coffee in the morning on the front porch, before anyone is awake and my rooster is trying to wake up everyone in a 10 mile radius.

Finding a book that I am immersed in after the first chapter. Bonus when i realize it’s the first in a series.

Running my fingers over basil leaves and smelling my fingers. (I grow it indoors all year round for just this reason)

Watching my cat when he has the zoomies and he tears through the house.

Taking a weekend drive in my classic car with the music blasting and air whipping my hair into a tornado.

This sounds glorious. The thought of it makes me want to move, tbh

It is. I'm damn lucky to live where I do, and I do my best to just take in the surroundings whenever I can.

That reminds me... walking around my little town and a then a bit further out into surrounding farmland, taking in all the scenery and serenety along the way, is another simple pleasure.

Do you get snow? My favorite sound in the silence is when it snows. I can hear is the tree branches lightly cracking from the ice. Or the first steps in the new snow. The sounds is so abnormally loud. Miles of unblemished, pristine snow. It’s so bright. Everything looks clean, shines and is perfect.

Edit: I’m not sure how I forgot the coyotes. Its loud and echos. It’s a beautiful sound though.

The summer is never silent here. I’ve wondered if it’s louder than a city. The crickets, bullfrogs, buzzing insects and owls are so loud, it’s hard to concentrate until you learn to tune it out.
