It's a fun game. Short but playable, and with the difficulty increasing, could make it replayable if that's your idea of fun. Maybe wait for a sale, but overall, it's a fun game that doesn't load you down with endless bullshit.
It feels like a classic Xbox 360 Era game, a short 10 hour experience that gives you something to do on a weekend if that's what you want to do.

The hacking was definitely a fun 'minigame' integrated into the main concept. Being able to bounce around, dodging shots while doing additional damage, is an interesting take on 'skill'. The faster you get at hacks, the quicker enemies die.

I hope the 'Pragmata' IP isn't a one-and-done situation.

This game is probably Japanese propaganda aimed at the purpose of kidnapping blonde women to force them to have blonde babies becauss Jap women dont put out.

(real talk, if it were another one of Japanese please procreate propaganda shouldn't it be marketed towards women, like I get that its another topic entirely but still)

I rather have a big patch and DLC that smooth out some edges and add some extra missions or modifiers to the game.

If they want to continue this as a franchise they really need to take their time and see how they can evolve the gameplay in a meaningful way. But I rather have Capcom acknowledge the fact that they can do individual new IPs and start developing smaller and weirder games. They got too bogged down in RE/MH in recent years and especially their development pipeline is buckling under a lot of issues.

With how Capcom tends to fuck up with their IP's I'd honestly prefer it be a one and done kind of thing. Story DLC would be neat though.
Also agreed, the constrained nature of the setting leads well to having it be a one and done story. The problems will start if they try and milk it because you can guarantee at that point that the pedo influences will be prioritized given attention will be on justifying the additional sales over being happy about the initial round of game buys.

Hassan on PRAGMATA for family values:" If you are a fucking lonely gamer who has never been around with a woman and will never have sex with a woman, why do you care? Like, what do you care about, having children or like riding for having children? "

I'm really digging this game. Not sure exactly what it is but everything has come together so wonderfully and it really speaks to me. The combat is awesome and when it clicks, it feels amazing. The aesthetic is this really cool nasa-punk style, and I love being a hulking dude in a big space suit. And the characters are exactly what I wanted: simple, and only really there for the fun father-daughter moments between Hugh and Diana. I appreciate that the game doesn't really ask big philosophical questions and just is like "you're a big guy and you have an adorable not-daughter and she wants to go to earth, now you shoot robots." It's no-frills action gaming. It feels like it, and plays like it.

I dunno. I'm loving it. I'm on my lunatic run now. I might even want to check out a NG+ run too.

"Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that worldwide sales of PRAGMATA, the company’s all-new IP released on April 17, 2026*, have surpassed one million units."

Glad to hear it sold pretty well so far. Game is great and deservers its success. I hope Capcom recognizes that new IPs are important even if they pose a risk.

At the end, game remembers me so much of Bioshock 2. Mixed with Dead Space, there's Pragmata.

Diana is still a fucking robot. Tools are made.

Young children are vulnerable, create problems instead of solving them, and do not wear a face full of makeup. They eat a lot, run around screaming, shit themselves, and vaguely follow simple commands if they're feeling nice. The rewards of being a parent come from nurturing something that is utterly defenseless and seeing it develop its own personality and humanity - which takes years, not a couple of walks down space corridors. This does not fit into a world of puzzle-solving and shooting robots.

Do you know what kind of character fits better in a world where you need a sidekick tagalong to solve problems and shoot robots? The hacker e-girl trope from every game ever made.

Like Cortana from Halo.

Or the pilot from Deus Ex Machina.

Or Alyx Vance from HL2.

Or Yennefer from the Witcher.

These are all young women who provide a some sort of service to the main character. They progress the plot. They do stuff. They fascinate the player. That's their purpose. They are the competent female sidekick tag-a-long. They even look the fucking same, often some ethnic minority, usually has short dark hair. I don't know why, this is just the look that media uses to inform a white male under the age of 40 that the character is technically capable despite being a female.

When you want this role to be in part fulfilled by a child, it has to be done carefully. There are child characters who fulfill this paternalistic purpose in other games. How about the most famous example of this from any media ever created, now in both video game and film format.

Ellie, Last of Us. Now a TV show.

Nobody called this pedophilia.

Another zombie game. Father-Daughter paternalism without blood relationship.

Nobody called this pedophilia.

Can you guess why?

Because it wasn't so fucking creepy. Clementine's face isn't hyper-realistic. Ellie's lips aren't glistening with wetness, they're natural for her skin color. Ellie and Clementine are dirty and worn down. Their hairs are tied up or cut for practicality, not flowing to waist length. Diana has rose blush, Ellie has an ashen face, Clementine is covered in dirt. One of these looks like a real human child that is distorted to show premature signs of fertility, giving the uncanny valley effect that pageant model children do, and the others look like they're made to fit in their universe and not act as fan service despite being a fucking child. Clementine and Ellie both raised paternalistic instincts in their audience without looking SO FUCKING CREEPY.

But you know this. It's just bullshit play-pretend and you're doing the same because you're one of these freaks. Capcom are nip perverts and they do this shit because they know nip men eye-fuck the little blonde children. They could have changed her design at any point after it was pointed out how fucking gross it is but they didn't, because it was intentional. They didn't make Diana a tarted up Japanese girl because they wouldn't so blatantly fetishize that, either out of caution or out of respect, which they will not afford white girls.

What's funny is that when I think of this debate the first thing I thought of was Ellie. You'd think, if paternalistic instinct is actually the motivation, you'd see people bringing her up constantly as "it was OK when it was Ellie", but I've actually never seen anyone bring Ellie up in defense of Pragmata, and I think it's because if you put her side-by-side with Diana it's just so fucking obvious what's wrong.

its especially weird when capcom released two games back to back with creepy little girl undertones in RE9 and now this thing. I have played SH2 more times i can count and never found nothing weird about Laura and that game is legit full off weird psycosexual themes, hell thats the entire point.

I'm not going to pretend there aren't people using this as a guise for pedophilia. I actually discussed at length in the kink thread and the kiwis against porn thread about psychological reinforcement, fetishism, paraphilia, etc. There were also a multitude of perspectives in how individuals view the same sort of content, like how you can break female porn consumers into 4 groups, with said grouping possibly applying to homosexuals too given brain-similarities but I digress.

I think the conversation is fundamentally muddied because there are people viewing the character in an abstract sense i.e. the father-daughter relationship itself and her role in it as daughter. Then the mannerisms and actions she does independent of appearance are also cute to some, annoying to others. The other half of the conversation would be those find her appearance cute in conjunction with actions/personality and those who find her cute independent of everything else. (I personally didn't look close enough at her face to see lipstick/makeup but then again i haven't played the game)

Pedos will camouflage themselves in the discourse because they know they're universally reviled, and they have muddied the conversation further by injecting their dogwhistles and coded language into conventional discourse. When the crying emoji thing has become normalised as a means of "ragebaiting moralists" to some on the right-wing and left-wing, it's hard to differentiate between the terminally online autists and the actual pedos, which is what the pedos intend. Right now the pro-Pragmata side has people viewing this game as encouraging people to become parents, people who view it as an example that games will be successful if they cater to men (encourages fatherhood), and people who might genuinely just see it as a good game.

Fetishists regardless of paraphilia can be compared to any other fetishist group in that they will seek some form of stimulation from being open about their fetish/kink without outright stating it, because it's an escalation of fetish and acts as a way of squeezing more dopamine out of an already tapped vein (Tarantino is a notable example). Exhibitionism is sort of the next tier up from being private about it. This can precede action in the real world, which is when it gets dangerous/disgusting—see: trannies, drag, furries, etc—and because their fetish occupies a major part of their life, they're more loyal to it than they are ideology, and they will side with whatever political cause they see as being the most likely to push their fetish or leave them alone.* Some people's fetish becomes so important in their life, that they will gaslight a non-perverse reason for why they have it in the first place—"It's how I deal with my trauma," etc—I wouldn't accuse people in this thread of being pedos because I'd hope a user of this website has, at bare minimum, sense enough to see this is not a pro-pedo forum. But given the site's pro-free speech, anti-censorship stances for the most part, it's not too surprising one or two end up here regardless.

I think @Professor Donger is an earnest fan of the game, but knows he'll be painted as a pedo by some users, so has to double down on:
1) I hate pedos
2) All the critics are drawing attention to her appearance, making them the pedos, which I hate
But in trying to defend himself, some people will see said defence as "The lady doth protest too much" (i.e. insincere overreaction) and so label him as one regardless. I don't think he is one, I think he's just a terminally online autist, which unfortunately applies to a ton of people thus making differentiation difficult. When some autists develop a fixation on something it'll occupy a large part of their mind, and they tend to be enamoured with bright colours, fast motion, simplistic and direct modes of conveying emotion—very common in anime. I saw a lot of these types become fixated on that one horse-trainer sim (the one where the horses are just women) a while back, so I'd paint him more as an anime-fan/right-wing/quasi-normie whose defence of this game from accusations of pedophilia being more a result of doomscrolling Twitter and seeing Pragmata as being another front on the left/right culture war + defending anime as a secondary motive.

*This is why anti-censorship groups will inevitably be swarmed with porn addicts of all shades, and pro-privacy groups will be inundated with pedos.
There are pedos using Pragmata as a means to be openly pedophilic and thus stimulate themselves, but there are those who aren't, and it's the ones who—statistically speaking—would make up the majority and would probably see the haranguing as performative. It's why any attempt to bring attention to pedos in [insert community/fandom here]-community proves ineffective because it typically ends up being applied also to the non-pedo majority who have to defend themselves and the pedos too due to the circumstances. Recently, anti-de-banking people experienced this phenomena when Visa stopped authenticating payments for certain types of content and some of the loudest people were gooners/coomers.
