Again, I agree with you fully. I like that part of the site’s culture. I just point all this out in response to this;

I don’t think Null or the jannies are doing anything wrong, I think the site’s culture is just inherently not friendly to casual conversation (at least in the off-topic boards as most of those are hobby-centric)

True enough, I think privacy concerns and updoot upsets should be irrelevent. The only thing I'm maybe sympathetic to DMfags for is if people wanna discuss topics that'll get immediately flooded by seething retards trying to shut it down, like maybe people wanna make a tranny thread for trannies or a leftoid politics general or a pro-pitbull thread and not have it immediately filled with screeching nigger-sayers who don't like it existing.

Not seeing account updoots? Literally malding and shitting right now. Seriously though they are nice and I don’t see the point of removing them from view. Maybe putting an option to hide them, but blanket removing them is pointless IMO.

@Null what if you set up a Gated Communities subforum where every thread OP could threadban anyone they don't like from their own thread, so people can have dedicated-topic threads for unpopular/controversial stuff like vtubers, furry shit, manhate, partisan politics or whatever that are publicly visible but protected from the mad spergs shitting them up because they don't like the topic?

That'd require a lot of development time. I've considered the following:

• "OP is Moderator" boards.
• "Anonymous Tokens" that give users the option to author posts or threads anonymously, with subsequent posts by anonymous threads earmarked "OP".
• Self-pruning boards that function either like imageboards with a finite number of threads in catalog, or a date-based last post expiry like how DM chains work now.

Etc.

There's a lot of fun things that can be done once we're off XenForo. Every second I spend fixing XF is a waste of time now.

If your hobby is so incredibly niche that talking about it is a breach of opsec, chances are that nobody else on KF gives a shit about it and you should talk about it on the dedicated reddit/discord/whatever for people with your weird niche hobby.

Conversely, if you can find a bunch of people in a DM chain sperging about your weird niche hobby, it's clearly not so rare and niche and personally distinguishing that you can get doxed just for joining in.
