Proship discourse - People Who Think They’re Fandom Saviors For Being Open About Their Disgusting Fetishes (zoophile/pedophile/necrophilia/incest/rape/etc) and the people that oppose them.

Without going into PL territory I follow a couple people deep in the Hannibal fandom rabbit hole. They’re just choosing to ignore it/not acknowledge the accusations or Fuller altogether (whereas before, they’d tag him in some stuff in very attention seeking ways) which I’m not sure is a good or bad choice.

If anything, I’ve been seeing some people focusing more on the “Hannibal Extended Universe”/HEU, which is Hannigram shippers, well, shipping Mads and Hugh’s characters from totally unrelated movies and television shows together, no matter how much it doesn’t make sense. ie Hugh’s character from Law and Order with Mads’ character from Casino Royale, that kinda shit. It’s removed from Fuller so I guess they see it as a guilt free way of shipping Hannigram but not actually Hannigram.
that's par the course in these types of fandom. I've seen Beetlejuice/Lydia fangirls pair up Michael Keane's character in Dumbo with the underage girl in the film, to get a "historical vibe" and well, it's as vile as you'd expect.

You know, that's one of those times where I would be okay with someone making a self-insertion character to ship with a fictional character.

As for Beetlejuice/Lydia, I'd place the blame squarely on the 1990's cartoon adaptation. Highly sanitized compared to the source material, but it was an outlier in being a decent In Name Only adaptation compared to others of the time. While their relationship was portrayed as purely platonic from what I remember (plus BJ was portrayed more as fun-loving but chaotic neutral than chaotic evil as he was in the movie), that didn't stop girls from self-inserting through Lydia. Not sure about the musical, though.

Beetlejuice's 1990s cartoon ruined whatever chances at a normal fanbase existed. I've seen art of the musical version - the musical being made by folks who, well, despised the pairing and created a song where Lydia calls BJ a "creepy old man" - being slaughtered by the Keegan/cartoon versions. Why? Because the musical actor for the titular character found the ship art creepy.

Oh, and the attitude whenever somebody points out they're creepy.

(pictured above from addie-sanchez on tumblr... I swear besides troons, there's so many degenerates and cumbrained retards on that site)

"Unusual ship" would be like pairing Carrie (1976 version) with one of those ex-bullies who felt sorry for her. Not pairing literal teenage girls with grown ass men that are 23+ years older (Jareth and Sarah from Labyrinth...she's literally fifteen).

Why are these people so easy to trigger? Ya think they'd learn to take it in stride. Some do, but are then equally puzzled when the rest of the fanbase doesn't want to rub shoulders with them.
or they brag about how nasty they are, then act shocked when they're treated as such. It's almost like extreme fetishes aren't … tolerated by most people.

And they think their fetish makes them progressive and throw around buzzwords at you when you call them weird for it. Newsflash your fetish doesn't make you progressive at all.

They really exposed themselves, thinking fantasizing about raping children or having a extreme abuse kink, or even an incest kink to the point of intense pedophilia towards younger siblings is somehow a human rights thing. I'm sorry, did we go back to the Hapsburg era? I thought we all agreed about 10 years ago that this was degeneracy, nothing to be proud of nor progression in society.

Did NAMBLA somehow create a new branch? These people are so delusional, they're spouting Newgon admin rhetoric on how women are so fragile, they can't be predators... even though most of these female proshippers (Liz, Mouse, and others like those I've screencapped) most certainly give off Mary Kay Letourneau vibes.

Goddamn, they're complaining how China and Russia are censoring IRL slash/femslash fics of actual actors, actresses and singers for god's sake. Gee, wonder why? Maybe because it's demented?

Apologies if this has already been found, but Vee makes a brief appearence in this podcast Kyle Corazza did in May of 2019. This interview takes place after the last episodes of Magiswords aired (at least according to the intro segment). Vee's call-in segment is from 18:40 to 24:31.

It was hard to hear her because of her shitty mic, but Kyle and the others had nothing but good things to say about her, and Vee certainly doesn't seem unhappy to be there. It certainly doesn't sound like the abusive relationship it's been painted as.

She sounds like every autistic whiny, entitled woman I've met irl.
Imagine working with this cow, and having to explain to her in person eventually about her firing when she comes to clean her office. How she probably drools at a mention of shota.

It’s not real so why should anyone give a shit? It’s like claiming words are “assault”, just a bunch of excuses to censor people.

I don’t care if I don’t like it, people can do what they want and I’m not going to treat them any differently for what they like. I only care about how they treat other people, real life living and breathing people, not a bunch of lines on paper.

Anti’s tend to be cruel and want to harass others to bully them into compliance. I’ve seen a few pro-shippers like that too. Every group has their share of assholes and idiots.

On the whole, pro-shipping is just about free speech. That’s all there is to it. It’s fiction, so big whoop, at least they’re not out there actually hurting anyone so I say let them enjoy their hobbies. If you don’t like it, feel free to ignore it and move on.

This lends credence to something I've been thinking for a while, that her drawing weird Foster's Home ship art was the last in the list of reasons she was fired, and not the sole one like how it's been presented.
According to the Wikipedia list of episodes (archive; it's also on the Wikia but that site is dogshit), Ang/Vee only did meaningful work on one episode of the entire series, the 34th episode of Season 1. Many other names on the list worked on over twenty, except for a few who only did one or two, and mostly in season 1. To me, this suggests one of a few options, which aren't mutually exclusive:
  1. Even if people liked her, she was hard to work with and thus usually got passed up for any major work. The one episode she worked on also featured someone else who was barely involved in any episodes, so he could've been new to the team and didn't know any better.
  2. She was a lay-about and hardly did any actual work, usually citing "chronic illness" or something.
  3. There were simply too many cooks in the kitchen, and she was already slated for firing due to her limited involvement.
I also suspect that the content of her art wasn't the true final straw, but rather her total lack of opsec relating to it. The official story is that someone she only met online was able to send it directly to her boss with seemingly little complication, which implies that she put little to no effort into using pseudonyms or otherwise distancing her controversial, personal art from her professional life, which is Internet 101.

So he was being normal and didn't like her cartoon porn. Now he was fired because people spread libel that he supposedly bullied her to suicide.

Fuck Angela Vondra. Justice for Kyle Carrozza, his only crime was being a fat virgin at age 44.
We should put those two in the ring and see who eats who. Winner gets 10,000+ calories and their job back so they can make the next Steven Universe

An autistic munchausen by internet kweer who is a genetic deadend and a fat slob whose redeeming quality is not being a complete genetic dead end that wants to rape his sibling and could actually breed a bitch and continue his bloodline if he worked out. Wow, wonder who wins.

Depends on who tastes better I suppose

Funnily enough (and rate me late I guess, but I didn’t see this mentioned as the news broke the same time the Ang theatrics were going on) Bryan Fuller -who basically encouraged the Proshippers in their degeneracy- was recently accused of being a sex pest, so it’s been interesting seeing both the anti and pro side try and spin that situation.
That is fucking hilarious. I had a suspicion a few years ago something like that was going to happen, and lo and behold, it did. Pro shippers like to say antis are the ones getting busted for sex crimes when they're covering for one right under their noses.

From a Variety article:

Fuller and Wineman are both gay. They worked together on the series “Queer for Fear: The History of Queer Horror,” a four-part docuseries that was released on AMC’s Shudder streaming service in 2022.

Wineman alleges that he was removed from the project in August 2021, about four weeks after complaining about Fuller’s conduct.

According to the suit, Fuller made numerous references to his penis, talked about which reading material gave him erections, and talked about “wanking it” to adult/child power dynamics in stories. The suit also alleges that Fuller left lubricant and balled up tissues on his desk, so that Wineman would know he had been masturbating.
Fuller also allegedly made bullying comments about Wineman, saying he was “weak,” lacked charisma, and was “drier than NPR.”
But it's just fictional, fam.

It's going to take a Heard/Depp court case just for them to drop Fuller, because receipts aren't going to cut it. The top defenders like Mouse, who is a noted Hannibal fan, and the fandom in general will either scrub him from their memory or act like MeToo doesn't matter.

That's a real shame. From the sound of it, it's like Youmacon and Kyle both agreed that for safety's sake he withdraw from the convention. Which makes sense, given some people can go to batshit lengths to take things IRL these days (and even back in old days. Go look up the Alan Dean Foster story where someone threw a warm cup of vomit on him or someone spritzing Tom Preston/Andrew Dobson with water a few years back).

At least Youmacon was doing due diligence in making sure the accusations had any validity; it's bad enough people like Ang poison the well for people who have truly legitimate hostile work place harassment claims.
