Psychonauts and Their Reports - Erowid Experience Vaults / The Psychonaut Wiki / Drugs Forum

PL, but I happen to work in a place that sells plants and seeds and garden shit. This is relevant to the thread because once in a blue moon I'll have some 14 year old kid nervously ask where the Morning Glory seeds are or if we have any very specific cacti in stock, and then just take handfuls of them and try to act normal. Cracks me up to see these teenage kids trying shit they found on Erowid.
Anyways, in my experience most people grow out of the "legal highs" once they actually find someone to get weed from. Only weird motherfuckers have their preferred drugs be delieriants or disassociatives, most of the time it's not a fun state of mind to be in and they have weird body effects.

Haha I know exactly what you mean. The kind of morning glory that actually gets you high is native to Hawaii, and once in a while you'll see weirdos trying to pick the flowers.

Actually, that is Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, both them and certain types of Morning Glory seeds contain LSA. Trust me on this, both work but you need much more Morning Glory seeds to get an adequate dose.
I never said I wasn't that teenager at one point, I just never asked the staff. How do you think I learned all this weird drug nonsense in the first place?

I always found it funny when kids asked various questions about nutmeg on old forums. At least LSA actually does something, even if it will usually give you terrible nausea and vasoconstriction. True though, that the more obscure stuff is more obscure for a reason. The only people I've ever seen defending deliriants and dissociatives are either people defending some potential medicinal value from very small doses or the lolcowish psychonauts who want to be the veteran and experienced drug user who can handle things that other people can't and talks about "ego death" like it's phrophecy and something that can only ever be gained from being at least as much of a veteran and experienced drug user as they are.

I remember diphenhydramine being one of my favorites to read reports on. Terrifying and stupid, but fun to read about.

Any old morning glory seeds will work if they're relatively fresh, but they're a lot weaker than Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds. Both will give you the same nausea, vasoconstriction, and other effects though, since you're still ingesting the same chemical. There's also ololiuhqui, which some people will claim is better than both, probably because it's rarer or something.

EDIT: Ninja'd

LSA can actually be pretty fun if you don't have it ruined by the nausea, but it's not for everyone. Nutmeg, I cannot recommend just because it is such a long trip that it's simply not worth the trouble, and that's not mentioning that you feel like you have a bad head cold the whole time. But I do highly recommend mescaline containing cacti if you can find them, those trips were like your brain is just pinging on so many levels and you just feel great.
Now, diphenhydramine (Benadryl/DPH) is something that's really fucked. The best way I can explain it is that lower doses are hit or miss, kind of like a worrisome weed binge mixed with light hallucinations, but mid to high doses go full Event Horizon if you're lucky. If you aren't lucky, we are talking your mind creating situations so terrifying that you can't explain them, but they will be indistinguishable from reality. You can't move, you can't sleep it away, and you feel like you are dying of thirst no matter how much water you drink. The only time mid-tier doses were fine was when mixed with DXM, and even that's up to luck.
But the most crazy thing about DPH is that it is somehow habit forming, despite how terrible of a trip it is. So, there is a group of people who just can't really explain why they do such an unfun drug except they just feel compelled to, it's really crazy.
Also, if someone does poppers I immediately assume they are up to some Islamic activity. Just saying.

Agreed. Again I was always mostly an observer, but aside from smoking weed for a time the only other things I did was try LSA a couple times and grew my own mushrooms once. To be completely honest, while I really enjoyed the mushrooms I actually liked the LSA more, simply because of the headspace. Obviously it isn't as wild as any of the other psychedelics, but it had a really peaceful lucidity to it that I greatly appreciated. A bit of weed also helped with the nausea and vasoconstriction, and as many other people report also seems to be a really effective catalyst for the more pleasant effects.

What you said about DPH lines up with what I've read. That's a good part of why I always found it so interesting to read about. It's like the abyss people can't help but look into when they're on the precipice.

EDIT: Oh, and tea from poppy husks when they were still legal. Only twice, and I'll admit it was probably really stupid even though I was being careful. I was being depressive and dumb, and while I was trying to take good precautions in determining a small-medium dose, there are too many natural variables to guarantee it.

Weed does help quite a bit with the nausea from LSA, DXM, and mescaline. I’m not an expert by any means, but I’ve learned a thing or two from experience.
But back to DPH, that’s just the mental effects. It can fuck you up physically as well. There’s reports of people having seizures at high doses, obviously there’s incidents of people getting hurt from losing motor skills, and habitual users can even start to experience almost a type of dementia in daily life. Seeing things out of the corner of your eye that belongs in a trip, short-term memory problems, general confusion, it’s not good. Luckily, it seems to go away if you stay off of it for a bit, but long term effects aren’t exactly known.
There’s also reports of DPH use having something to do with ED and general dick problems. I’m talking teenagers who took so much DPH that they start to seriously wonder if they broke something because it ain’t working, but this also seems to go away in time. Overall, it’s one of the strangest drugs I have seen gain decent amount of use, probably because it’s everywhere and anyone can but it for cheap.
It’s up there with Datura for things that are a bad idea to take a bunch of.

I forgot about the dick problems until you mentioned it. Taking enough to pass the threshold is way more than your body should ingest, and I remember reading some people who would seemingly without reason to do so just take 500+ mg more than someone else did who reported their dose to be enough. I always figured those people had a death wish or something.

I liked reading about the "shadow people" especially. That just sounds utterly terrifying, especially when people are experiencing something similar to HPPD like you mentioned and see one in the corner of their vision the next day when they aren't expecting it. I can't imagine the toll it takes on your body, mentally or physically.

Dick issues are pretty common for a variety of drugs, but it lasting more than a day at most is cause for some concern.
The shadow people are certainly dependent on dosage, but I rarely hear about the actual people. You can see your friends, your parents, your pets, police officers, hell, you can even see people from movies show up and just talk to you. It's actually more scary than shadow people because you don't know if they are real or not and you are off your gourd trying to hold a conversation.
That, and spiders are everywhere.

Yeah, that sounds utterly terrifying to me. I remember reading reports like what you're describing, where there's a small crowd of people in someone's living room for no reason, all just silently staring at him without moving. Try yelling at them to say something, and they're just statues watching you. I remember one guy saying that one or a couple of the people were ones he hadn't even seen in years, and then when he turned his attention away for a second before looking back at them, they weren't there. I think it was also DPH, or maybe some dileriant, that I remember someone talking about hanging out and having a conversation with a friend who wasn't actually there.

I used to be very afraid of the idea of the supernatural as a kid, so that sounds especially terrifying to me.

EDIT: What makes a massive difference is what you pointed out when you said you can't tell if they're real or not. Everyone always says that it's not like psychedelics where you can calm yourself down and remember that it's just a trip and that you took a drug, but that there's genuinely no telling what's real and what isn't real.

You do know that you’re high, you just don’t know what is and is not reality.

The problem with deliriants and dissociatives is they fuck you up enough that you forget you even took a drug at all, or only remember it intermittently.

It has been my experience that morning glory seeds give a more visual experience and hawaiian baby woodrose give a more euphoric body high (kind of like rolling on e but with visuals, but less visuals than morning glory seeds).

Before you do anything like LSA, LSD or DXM: eat something light. I always thought I need to take that stuff on a full stomach, only to get fucked over a few hours later feeling like I had a bowling ball in my stomach (on LSA or LSD) or spending 5000 years on the toilet because you never know when you need to go when DXM is running the show.

DPH is something no one should ever do. It’s no fun at all.
It's certainly not fun, but if you're into doing drugs just for the experience I recommend it because deliriants are bizarre in a way that no others are. There is no euphoria whatsoever and you probably won't laugh once the entire time, but you're going to have a hell of a time. Have conversations with people only to look away for a second and have them disappear, look through pictures on your phone only to realize you aren't holding your phone, try to grab to spider on the wall and watch it turn into nothing in your fingertips, sit on your couch and watch a cat you don't own walk around your living room. It's pretty nuts.

Like I said.
This is not a good pitch homeboy.

The major problem with these things is unless you have some way of getting a measured dose, the natural sources (like datura or brugmansia) have wildly unpredictable amounts of the active chemicals. The difference between a "recreational" (as if this shit can be considered fun) and dangerous overdose is also thin.

Just read the trip reports. These are from generally experienced drug users and they're almost all in the train wrecks & trip disasters category. They aren't just bad trips, they're H.R. Giger level absolute hell nightmares.

Yeah, I agreed with you that it's not "fun" and not for everyone. To some it is a good pitch. Because of the disassociation it ends up being a far less traumatic experience than a bad psychedelic trip, so long as you don't get into any real world trouble.

I was talking more about DPH. Datura isn't something I would take a chance with as it lasts far longer as well.

Well you actually can get that measured. Same with BZ although I doubt it is widely (or at all) available in private commerce.
