Psychonauts and Their Reports - Erowid Experience Vaults / The Psychonaut Wiki / Drugs Forum

I've never understood how people are attracted to such kinds of drugs, they read reports how people wake up in a jail cell with no memory of the last day whatsoever and somehow think that's a thing they wanna replicate? It's not even like it feels good or there are interesting visuals. They just black out and then wake up being questioned by a detective about why they have cannibalized their roommate. What's the draw?

The really bad shit is datura or brugmansia or any of those seriously poisonous plants. Almost every single report of people dumb enough to do these are the "Trainwrecks & Trip Disasters" type and end with the user in a hospital, in jail, or in a jail hospital. They're all absolutely absurdly hellish experiences nobody would want. I always find it funny when someone who did one of these reports has another because they did it again, because they're fucking insane.
This is a personal favorite trainwreck story of mine.

Benzo and datura trainwreck stories are the best, because you get to live through them vicariously when they fuck up their lives.

Fun fact: Some ayahuasca shamans put datura and stuff like, other scopolamine-containing plants, that in their brews. Some of the more unscrupulous ones (sometimes even in the U.S., where ceremonies are done at night in yoga studios and such, but notoriously down in South America, where a lot of random drunks hang out shingles as shamans) use it to do shit like try to cast spells on people and molest women. That scene is super shady also. Sometime I will tell some second-hand stories about that shit. Second-hand because there's no way you could get me to drink some witchy concoction that makes you puke and let some guy whisper Peruvian sorcery over me. Fuck that. Better to take a pharmaceutical MAOI and some DMT orally, or, best of all, take an MAOI (with all due precautions) like moclobemide and smoke the DMT. Best not to do drugs at all.

Lol calm down just do some salvia.

The worst thing I ever did was meth. But I've only done this once. And to be honest, it wasn't nearly as bad (or addicting) as those drug PSAs make them out to be. The Nazis invented meth, just a fun fact there. But yeah, as far as the effects go, it's just an Adderall high. That's it. It doesn't impair your judgment, at least not in the same way that weed or alcohol does. In fact, if you use it only occasionally (like at parties) or even less than that, you could be high on meth around people and they wouldn't even know it. And it's not physically addictive. You can quit it cold turkey if you ever do become addicted to it, just like coke. But the downsides are that the burnout is terrible, the cottonmouth is so extreme to the point that swallowing can become difficult and you lose appetite and sleep. And some other minor things. That's why I don't see myself doing it everyday.

Well, you might find yourself in a Florida hotel room passed out with an overdosing hooker male nurse. I mean, meth does make that kind of thing happen.

Congrats on doing meth that wasn't made in a cut-up Pepsi bottle.

Yeah, but I think the reason I didn't become so addicted to it is because I have ADHD (and possibly OCD too) so that I grew up taking some of the finest most top notch pharmaceutical grade amphetamines since childhood, like Adderall, Vyvanse and other stuff that you've probably never heard of, to where when I finally tried meth, it didn't come off as anything special to me, really, because all those years of dextroamphetamine usage has desensitized me to that feeling that you might get on speed, whereas with other people who aren't like me and who don't have ADHD who try it become instantly hooked, because it's probably the first amphetamine they've ever tried. Furthermore, the only illegal drug I've ever done other than that was weed and to be honest, I don't like smoking that shit because it makes me paranoid. I really shouldn't be smoking that shit in general. Every person interacts with weed differently, for some people they become more calm, but for me I become too damn anxious on that stuff. Plus it smells bad, tastes bad and burns your throat so much that you have to painfully cough that shit out. Meth does the exact opposite for me. It makes me calm, less depressed than I sometimes get on weed or just in general and it doesn't have any foul skunk spray smell to it (in fact, the only smell you'll get from it is the after smell it might leave in a room, which is hard to describe really) and it hits very smooth.

It was just regular ice. It looked like this, it wasn't that pink stuff that'll last you 24 hours.

Only thing I can share is one of my classmates in the early 2000s took a full dose of Dramamine for motion sickness and, forgetting the previous dose, then took a full dose of Tylenol Flu capsules on the ride to school.
She said she saw purple fuzz growing on the edges of things- like a sort of halo effect. And that it wasn't fun because she was exhausted and would practically slip into a doze while standing at the lockers. Seemed legit and it wasn't as far out and trippy as some of the drug stories you'd hear, you know?

Looking back, I wonder if the symptoms were more from the seditive effect of the OTC flu stuff. Kinda like a chemically induced sleepdep hallucination of sorts.

-Not particularly great as a drug story, but it came to mind with people being stupid and trying anything for a bad trip of all things.

Have you tried boofing it?
No. But I just hate that impaired feeling you might get on most drugs in general. I think it feels miserable imo. Even alcohol I don't like that much because it fucks up my stomach. One time I actually greened out and threw up with a fever after smoking some crossbred shit. That was fucking terrible. That's why I'm more of a tobacco and speed kind of guy.

I'm glad you were able to only do it once however I think you should really emphasize that is your personal experience before making declarative statements like that. A lot of drugs you can take a single time and not become addicted. Plenty of people get morphine drips in hospital and don't get addicted either. Plenty of people try heroin and get extremely nauseous among other effects and never do it again. However "hard drugs" are called that for a reason because they are high risk and have high abuse potential. The effects of a single use is one thing, but after a meth binge and being awake for 76+ hours straight ones perception and behavior will be markedly different. In fact, a lot of people might share your attitude of it not being that bad as it's reputation and they end up doing it again and again and their lives will slowly start to unravel. That being said, thanks for sharing your experience. It's people sharing their subjective experiences that make sites like Erowid great vs just getting your information from anti drug propaganda.

Another fun fact: Methamphetamine is prescribed under rare circumstances for obesity, narcolepsy, ADD etc under the name Desoxyn.

When I moved to a rural area I was surprised by how many people do speed casually at parties like cocaine. Plenty of nasty meth mouth trash goblins around too but also normies who sleep it off and then go back to their 9-5 on Monday.

Reactions: the fall of man
The brother of a friend I once had went insane from doing deliriants. That was quite the thing to watch over the years. Very disturbing. Over time he started taking cigarette butts out of the disposal bins you find outside of stores and smoking down what little of them remained. He ended up stealing his mother's car, crashing it, and was found by the police walking down the middle of the road mumbling incomprehensibly to himself. He wasn't on anything at the time as far as I'm aware, he was just genuinely far gone.

I was always more of an observer and never really did anything, but I did spend a fair bit of time on erowid learning about phenethylamines, tryptamines, and the rest out of interest. I also briefly knew some people who were getting ridiculously good deals on MDMA, but I was very skeptical of it. Again I never did anything myself so I can't say anything as far as the effects of what they got, but they were getting it in big crystalline chunks, and having heard plenty about how supposedly often people get scammed over MDMA, I did always wonder what it actually was that they got their hands on. It could have been MDPV/bathsalts for all I know, but I'm not an expert obviously.

I still want to read Hoffman's book, "LSD, My Problem Child", though, since I figure he probably has an interesting take on it all, and obviously knew much more about it chemically than I do.

Observing people like that was interesting, but I'm glad I'm far away from anyone like that now, to be honest. The only thing lost on my part is being able to listen to Spacemen 3 without being reminded of some rather dark images. Really great band though.

EDIT: The "ego death" thing always got a kick out of me, I forgot to say. Everyone became a genius and prophet because they had a colorful fever dream while awake.

Datura extract, if seriously diluted, is one hell of an allergy medication. one tiny drop in a glass of water, and no more pollen reactions for 12 hours. Undiluted, and a small glass though, that shit is pure nuts. I once trip sat for a guy on it, guy had a psychotic breakdown. He did weird shit like ask me for change for the vending machine despite us bein holed up at his house. I gave him a hadful of change and he stuffed it into the fridge's door seal and took out a case of nestea cans. He then took a can out, opened it, took a swig, then set it down, then he opened another can, swig, set it down, then he opened like five more in this manner before I stopped him. Then he broke down crying for no reason. It was like this all day, all night, and even the next morning.

If you don't mind an e-book, enjoy the read.
