Quinton is an awful critic but a good reviewer if that makes any sense. He doesn't know jackshit about what makes a film good but when he cares about something he has an autistic degree of passion about it.
His downfall is also funnier when you harbor how he grew an ego but not self esteem, so he constantly delivers these awkward moments of self depricating humor that are meant to own the haters like all the jokes he makes about looking like The Quartering and even went to call him Evil Quinton or the glorious ad speech for Raid: Shadow Legends. Watching him these days is like watching a guy that goes shittalking before something big and says he is going to fail in purpose with a shit eating grin.

No that's absolutely right, I don't think his criticism has ever been anything amazing, but his passion in reviewing things like the ouija movies and his Fallen Titans series (before he hated it) shows that he gave a crap about this media. Hell, it's hard to find someone who genuinely enjoys bottom of the barrel and below the barrel content that gives a super solid (albeit high level) overview while also being mildly entertaining. Nobody goes to a guy who's biggest videos deal with Rage Comics or Ray William Johnson to learn film theory or deep criticism regarding script writing.

For the downfall, his talking shit with the fragile ego has been fun to see, the best one still being Mumkey reading out live DMs from an exposed Quinton on stream after he wanted to act all big and tough. Hell even today we have this beautiful tweet:

Quinton's in a weird place regarding that though. There's too many instances of him in his self-loathing getting oh so very close to just realizing what is wrong, but then following up with purposeful ignorance. It'd be one thing if the man was dense like MovieBob and was completely incapable of seeing what might be wrong, but even he knows something is up with what he's doing and how he's doing it. He just lets that thought flutter away though since the people he wants to suck up to proclaim that things need to be done a certain way or else it will be wrong/evil, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Most of the thread is just watching him pseudo-proudly crash his own plane in slow motion while watching him do everything but pull up on the control wheel. It's fun to watch him stare at the control wheel and think that could solve absolutely everything, but then purposely avoid it because people who look just like him would use it to get out of a nosedive.

That one doesn't seem to be a joke as much as we would want to believe. This is the guy that prides himself on being mentioned on the Garfield Wikipedia entry, the one that read every issue of the comic and took pride of it, the one that held a meet-up at Garfield themed park and receives fanart portraying Garfield in some way.
The guy that asked Phelous and Sarah Z thru Twitter to keep Garfield EATS open so he could go. He is close friends with a dude that has reviewed in detail every episode of the Garfield animated series.
If this is a joke he pretty much rping as the tardy version of Jenny Nicholson.

Ya'll are in luck! I just so happened to make a lengthy post in another thread about what really happened during that hammer confrontation, with photos and video evidence a while ago, along with snapshots of the Tweets that this person is using for their bullshit version of events!

Behold:

Respectable Lawyer is an Antifa propagandist, and absolute slime BTW. He made a lengthy tweet chain about an incident in Portland where he said American Guard members (basically Proud Boys lite) were running around attacking people with hammers, brave Antifa soldiers chased them away, and Andy Ngo unfairly smeared "innocent people." He used a few still images and brief trimmed clips that were a few seconds long to make his argument.

As you can see, the American Guard members never even managed to set foot outside of their bus before they got rushed. One of them did brandish a hammer at Antifa members... while they were trying to drag his friend out of the bus to do god knows what, but hesitated to swing it, which resulted in the hammer getting grabbed from him and thrown back at him. Respectable Lawyer took a shot of the guy brandishing the hammer, and removed all the other context. He knew exactly what the fuck he was doing when he cut out the bus getting rushed and the AG member getting grabbed.

This video is also age restricted on Youtube for some baffling, not at all suspicious reason (seriously, there's no blood or anything, worse videos are unrestricted), but thankfully the ERL embed system bypasses that fuckery so you can watch it without signing in or having a Youtube account here.

But anyway, it's almost like Respectable Lawyer sees gay ops everywhere because he's always doing them himself.

So in conclusion, fuck Antifa and fuck no true Scotsman fallacies. This is standard operating procedure for them.

IMO he makes some pretty good points about documentaries being pretty dumb.

For what it’s worth I really liked this video. I especially loved the shout-out to Unsolved Mysteries (a series I’ve been very fond of since I was a kid) even though he made valid criticisms about it.

I think Quinton did a good job of explaining why most documentaries shouldn’t be taken as professional journalism/the Gospel truth. Almost all documentaries are made with bias (subconsciously or otherwise) and the editing is often manipulative. I love documentaries but it can hard identifying the creators’ biases, especially if you don’t do any follow up research.

Also, if you’re interested in more commentary about why Tiger King is a bad investigative documentary (albeit fantastic entertainment), here’s a video that goes deeper into it:

I have to agree with the points in both videos. Joe Exotic is an objectively terrible person and has a long track record of animal abuse (I think the most horrifying thing I’ve heard is that he promised someone to give their horse a good home, only to immediately shoot the horse and dispose of its body). It also rubs me the wrong way that the suffering the animals kept in private zoos like Joe’s go through is minimized and ignored a lot in favor of the drama. The only person who seems to be concerned about them is Carole Baskin, and we’re clearly supposed to hate her (not saying she’s a saint, I just think the hatred directed at her should be directed towards the other animal abusers). I think it would have helped a lot to have a respected animal welfare advocate or a government agent talk about the impact of the exotic pet trade on the animals, both captive and in the wild.
