Community Quiverfull Movement Lolcows - Starring the Duggars

Ma and Pa Duggar on the other hand, I'm significantly less charitable towards. Pretty much everything that parents should do when confronted with a situation like this is the exact opposite of what they did and promoted. They're so terrified of extramarital sex that even the safety of their own children isn't worth confronting it. To be honest, they should have their kids taken away by social services for this shit. It's just a shame it'll be tough to prosecute or sue them at this point.

They won't be able to prosecute now -- the statute of limitations have run out. (Wouldn't I love to see him sharing a cell with Sick Nick?)

That and that he was a minor at the time. Often, statute of limitations is tolled for minor victims until they themselves become adults, or else there is no SoL at all.

Now, if he's had more victims since becoming an adult himself, there might be something to go after.

See, the thing about forgiveness is, it only applies if you truly repent of your sins. The Big Guy in the Sky is pretty explicit about what He thinks about people who claim to repent but aren't willing to actually take responsibility for their actions, and it's not a very forgiving view (pun intended).

Also, God's forgiveness has nothing to do with legal penalties. Religion is no excuse for breaking the law or for escaping just punishment.

Uh you should all take a gander at the Dugger facebook page. There's a whoooole lot of dugger-fans excusing the inexcusable there.

Ah yes, bring on the "horrifying" ratings. BRING IT

This is why the fanboy mentality sucks-

"Because I love their family and the show so much- all negative accusations are wrong and/or it's the victim's fault!"

I feel bad for the kids :(

I just love the excuses people are coming up with: he made a mistake! He was a teenager! He was a normal, sexually curious boy! (Most guys I know resorted to spanking it, not to molesting their sisters). He's apologized! He went to counseling!

Fuck him.

I'm not defending him at all, but the kid was 14, and I'm honestly not one bit surprised that the fucked up environment he was raised in contributed to this kind of behavior. The weird thing about all this is that people are reacting to it as if it happened now, not when he was a kid, and wanting him strung up. If it had come to light then, would they be so quick to form a lynch mob? On the other hand, if it was a 14 year old black kid that shot someone, he'd be tried as an adult, so what the fuck do I know?

I remember what someone once told me - everyone on TV is an actor.

The Duggars portrayed themselves as the perfect family and proponents of traditional values.

You can go to the Free Jinger forums and read about the gross hypocrisy of the adults in that family - they made political calls saying kids would get molested by trans people in bathrooms and that abortion and gay marriage were contributing to the downfall of the family, one of them compared abortion to the Holocaust, among other things - and something like this happens.

What do you expect from a family with a mom who needs to keep notes on what her kids' favorite color is?

The thing that has made me sickest in all of this nobody is even talking about the victims. The parents and Josh Duggar and all their supporters are all concerned with is Josh being forgiven and healed by God...nobody cares about the victims (4 of them his sisters, youngest at the time was 4 years old). Nobody has spoken about their feelings or getting them counseling after the parents find out. It's all focused on he made a mistake and God forgave him."

And I am sorry, but 3 years worth of molesting 5 young girls (that we know of) is NOT a mistake. That is a problem.

Don't talk crazy, every good QF knows women don't have minds of their own. They are simply incubators for more (preferably male) children.

That would require them seeing women as people.
