Unsurprisingly, people in the comments are actually encouraging shitty behavior.

I do wish these morons good luck when they have to find another job.

"This should be allowed for all jobs..."
Including the people who work for your phone, power, and internet companies?

Also why do I get the feeling that "self employed" guy is just a neet whose mooching off his family and/or the taxpayers?

They seem to be cut from the same cloth as the late stage capitalism tards where they think there’s an infinite amount of capital being hoarded by old white men and luxury gay space communism is a few boomer deaths away. So they never have to think about how the system actually works.

Capitalism is a victim of its own success: it’s so efficient and so seamless that pampered upper middle class kids assume it doesn’t require any consistent labor to run as designed.

They may think the Star Trek society could work IRL.

Not just the automation, but the post-scarcity and everyone magically getting along too.
With a little eugenics, and whittling down the human population to a few hundred thousand, it just might work.

After all, near-extinction is how Star Trek managed utopia.

MovieBob is moderating this sub, isn't he?

If you have to quit your job, do you have to proceed by doing it in the most immature way possible? I suspect that none of these people have any clue on how to manage capital or own a business.

Businesses generally do not want to fire their employees out of malice. That's actually counterproductive to efficient management. It takes time and resources to train a new employee to a reasonable competency level. Why would anyone fire someone who is good at their job and does not cause any trouble? Not all businesses are dirty corporations out to enslave you; belief in that idea indicates a woefully inadequate understanding of economic system. Many of these businesses are owned by families who have invested a significant amount of capital and time into them. But fuck them, right? How dare you take a risk and give me a job? I'll just leave and never come back after lunch.

If we have so many of these spoiled children, I guess that must mean that society is somewhat successful.

If you ever want to get a job again, it would be a bad idea. If you're entire goal in life is never getting a job again it is clearly a 4d chess move. By becoming unemployable, they couldn't work if they wanted!

I think a lot of these people trapped in shitty wageslave deadend Jobs romanticize going NEET because it seems like they can finally have some control in their life without being forced to do menial tasks. But then when you quit and try to live your NEET dream you easily find yourself directionless and you would rather have some structure like you did at the wageslave job. Even if you did save up to comfortably NEET for a long time, or have some alternative source of passive income, the thing that gets you is the sheer boredom before anything else.

I ve been mulling it over and I think both social media and vidya enable these kinda attitudes.

I read an article a few weeks ago about how kids are playing fortnight. And how humans have psychological needs like, exploring on our own terms. The challenge of mastering a skill and progression, and social interaction. The author basically pointed out that school doesnt provide that and we ve basically locked kids up in the home and gave them the internet.

I've reflected how in my youth I d go for a walk and visit classmate s and friends who lived up or down the street from me. Then as they kinda moved on I retreated into the online world of AOL, haha. I ve seen young people just stay home and be neets on their Onlilne game all day everyday.

Basically if these fucks had the internet removed sheer bordem would force them to do something, and I think it would correct alot of their maladjustment.

Do you have a link for this article? Or did you read it in a newspaper or magazine?

It took me a long time to learn the value and satisfaction from hard work. I used to be pretty lazy. I bounced around jobs because I had a poor work ethic. Then I was unemployed for three years and was miserable. These anti-workers would have said I finally had control over my life and the freedom to do whatever I wanted, but I was bored and couldn't do anything that I wanted because I didn't have the money for it. When I started working again it was like a weight lifted off me or chains being removed.

I've lived both lives, and I prefer to be employed and in control of my life. To have the money to do/buy the things I want. I have a home that I own, a few luxuries, and the pride and satisfaction of knowing that through my hard work, I have control over my life.

These fools will never understand that. And the irony is they think they're so intelligent.

The grass does seem greener on the other side for these folks. It'll be difficult to convince them at this point. Some of them will give into the meme and become NEETs. It'll be fun for the first year perhaps. Emptiness and the madness which follows will eventually overshadow their lives. By the time they realize their mistake, it will be too late. It's much more of a struggle to become re-socialized back into society than it is to fall out of it. You can't play video games, watch anime, and jack off for the rest of your life.

The thing that makes me giggle is how many of them identify as Marxist/Socialist/Comminist. You know, the political ideologies that claim to be for the WORKERS? From each according to their ability, to each according to their need? The form of government that brought us gulags, forced labor camps, and state run farms for citizens who betrayed the collective by not working hard enough, or not working at all? Yeah, definitely systems that will be totally fine with these lazy fucks sitting around all day getting high and "being themselves".

Parents need to actually parent their kids and not use technology to baby sit them. Blaming social media and video games for enabling behaviors does nothing. It would be better to fix the public school education system and get parents to teach their kids self control and respect for hard work than to point a finger at technology.

Anyways there is one crazy anti work chick I have seen that cries about how much they hate America and is planning on moving to Belgium. Like that would magically solve their problems.

Leave it to commies to find the most self centered forms of rebellion. Just leaving your job isn’t gonna harm any major corporations who can just hire any other average joe off the street it will only harm small businesses who need all the workers they can get. It also harm your coworkers as they will either have to call someone who is off to fill your place or work double duty to make up for you being a lazy piece of shit.
