This is a false equivalence at best (thinking that kings actually loved their concubines instead of viewing them as pretty, fuckable ornaments), and horribly narcissistic at worst (comparing polyamorists to kings partaking in kingly activities), but completely shallow in both interpretations. Kings did not own concubines because they loved more than one person, they owned concubines because they were so wealthy that they could afford to indulge in their lust (which it was: lust, not love, and they almost always never had the same rights the real wife had). Polygamy had been largely practiced by the rich, not by peasants.
