r/polyamory

I find it a little odd that all these brand-new polys all seem to meet their partners "at a bar" or "at a party". Surely polygamy is not so common, and socially acceptable, that you can just randomly run into people practising it and have it come up in conversation. I feel like it's the sort of thing you'd really have to go looking for. So either they're lying to hide the fact that they met their fuckbuddies under much more degenerate circumstances, or you have a lot of polyamorous couples staking out bars and parties looking for easy targets to add to their house of madness. I'm not sure which is worse.

I knew someone at my work who was dating a poly guy at one point. It’s common enough now where it does pop up, especially if you’re meeting people at parties and bars where immature people who are just looking to fuck hang out anyways.

An inability to ever be single combined with an extreme aversion to commitment and a staggering inability to keep their pants on.

It's pretty much a symptom of poor executive functioning, which is why their lives tend to be complete train wrecks caused by tumbling down the slalom hill of terrible life decisions. Even outside of the poly thing.

I’d imagine it depends on how liberal/conservative your area is. Certain places are probably hives for this kind of thing.
