I think "closed system" polyamory has worked in some cultures, and by this I mean polygamy and polyandry. The difference being commitment.

Interesting take. These systems provided the same benefit monogamy did—social stability—as necessary at a time when lineage was socially significant and birth control wasn’t an option. Feudal, etc., societies that has these practices also had some heavy-handed enforcement methods for people were caught screwing around outside of those boundaries. Plus, you were probably being pretty blatant if you were getting caught in flagrante delicto before advanced surveillance.

The solution is simple: modern poly people need to agree that some behaviors warrant throwing people in the stocks in the public square. I humbly suggest it for 50-year-old dudes who are trying to acquire a bunch of live-in teen girlfriends.

Why are all these people white? In all the polycule photos I find they're all caucasian, is there a reason for this? Imagine going on 3 dates with someone and then finding out it they weren't really interested in you, they were just doing it for a buzzfeed video. Also, that woman should try a diet, not polyamory.

It does depend on if you mean people who self-identify as it or not. Having countless mistresses to the point where you lose track of who your children are is a practice as old as mankind, but they didn't use weird terms to describe it that most people wouldn't understand.

The board games thing is something I never got, aside from chess. Why have a load of pieces which can be easily knocked over by accident when you can play something simulated on a computer instead?

I don't know, I've seen it with my own eyes. Maybe their mating ritual is a complicated dance of semaphores or something.

It definitely seems to be the case but I don't think I've ever personally known adult board game fans. Card games, yes, but that's it. I must just have talent at avoiding lolcows.

In real life, they're not so much lolcows, as just sad and lonely. You just kinda cringe for them.

It seems to me they have too many people involved in their personal drama rather than too few.

A number of my coworkers are board game fans. Its a nerd thing, its more social than playing on a computer.

Friend says that shes starting to have feelings for husband, husband reciprocates, wife not happy, but the 3 develop a polyamory relationship anyway. Wife claims to be happy. Now girlfriend talks about wanting another child. Will probably kick wife out once girlfriend becomes pregnant. Body language is cringe inducing.
