Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
From my understanding, Kaisercat Cinema is operated by former devs of the mod as a semi-affiliated group and help host Kaiserreich at PDX-Con. I should also get into some history of Kaiserreich at some point but it started out as a mod for Darkest Hour that was basically a Russia wank by Russians, very little of that version of the mod exists in an subsequent editions for later versions of HoI.
Most of the things that make no sense about Kaiserreich or why the leftists devs spent years tearing their hair out about "realism" is because of that exactly. The core of the mod was White Russia wank. Russia basically has a bazillion easy wars to fight and a ton of land to conquer. Syndicalism is a meme and the strongest internationale paths were always totalist(mechanically, most divisions, best chances) because it was supposed to be white russia vs red fascism cold war.

Sadly the KR devs didn't get the memo that syndicalism is a joke and the mod isn't supposed to be realistic.

At least the devs have chosen to make content for countries that are semi-relevant. Surprised that India isn't mentioned once in the roadmaps

Yeah the HoI4 KR devs are an entirely different team from previous iterations. I will give them some leeway, outside of the unironic socialists in dev, they have some talented and devoted team members. The research into Warlord China for the much needed Chinese rework shows they have some amount of talent, though they cut like half of China's content from first release, particularly post-unification.

That roadmap reminds me Gorbachev is a Nazi collaborator. I wonder why TNO Devs would make the man who oversaw the Union's collapse a Nazi collaborator.

I have a feeling that De-Panzerification might not go the way we think. At first I was excited that “authoritarianism is bound to fail” was no longer the case but I feel like this is only going to affect communist dictatorships. Fascist/Right Wing dictatorships will fall but Commie ones will live forever.

Thats because in TNO leftists are tRuE CoMmUnIsTs . So of course they are going to win and establish fully automated luxury space LGbtqmap communism

The litmus test for that will probably be L-NPP content going forward, which was designed to have the Old Left/Auth-Soc leaders get tripped up by story events so the New Left and Lib-Soc leaders could take over. (Has someone posted the L-NPP design doc here yet?) Highlights included the ability to elect Angela Davis as President in the 80s, which was meant to connect to some dumb "Culture Wars" minigame. That was Pacifica's project though, so now that they're gone, that might be on ice forever.

The leftist warlords in the Iberian Wars are similar, in that the Orthodox Communists were meant to be tripped up, while other flavors of leftism were among the best paths in narrative. That was also a Pacifica project (throwing it together is apparently how they ended up in a position of team leadership in the first place), so it might be on ice forever now as well.

From what I understand, both Che and Castro will probably be black-washed due to the whole debate on their stance regarding homosexuals. (Assuming Cuba ever actually gets content, anyway.)

At the very least they could have picked something better as a reason to agenda post against them, such as the Cuba-Spain alliance of convenience which gave us this:

I know for a fact they did on one of the earlier dev builds (back during the first time the mod got leaked and while I was around on the team in late 2019). So maybe they'll get some content once the 2021 roadmap is done.

I think I know which leak you're talking about, but wasn't that just an intro skeleton tree? Counting that as content is a bit like saying the DSR had content. (Though that's a whole other can of worms.)
Yeah I posted it a few pages back.
Alright, I must have just glanced over it. All the USA design docs have been leaked then, right? (America post-72, the president list, McNamara, Y-NPP and L-NPP)

If I were them I wouldn't touch India either, that thing's got to be a game-dev chernobyl by now.
By my count, India has now been reworked five times, with no end in sight. (The closest thing it got to being complete was the 3rd rework, which was apparently junked so that devs could be made to work on Komi instead.)

I wouldn't be surprised if there's been another India team purge in the wake of the drama in these last weeks, so it will probably remain in development hell forever.

I just looked up Angela Davis and I can't begin to fathom how they make her look like a good guy.

The 70s presidents were posted a while back, don't know what page though.

Could someone repost the McNamara leaks?

Yeah, its called "Cold Southern Springs". The broader TNO team seems to have foisted the role of Latin America development onto them, but I don't know if they've been fully subsumed yet. As for agenda-posting, there was some drama about the way they handled the Brazilian Integralists, but so far the project as a whole seems to look alright. I suppose we'll see.

I've really liked the content they've posted so far and I hope this drama doesn't fuck them over. Latin American history let alone alt-history is criminally overlooked in settings.
