I still think a visual novel would have been ideal. But considering the number of branching pathways and the instability of its creators... it probably would've ended up being an even greater tragedy than Bandersnatch.

Playing video in a HoI4 mod can be a quite tricky, but it is possible, for instance the tutorial plays videos, but that might be a developer-only feature. Some mods have managed to integrate small gifs, but technically speaking they're not actually gifs, but more like a rapid slide show.

As a guy who has pretty much played the mod for the past 3 years I totally agree. As I said here before, why this mod works is because of many factors but the most important is probably self awareness, these guys are there just to have fun and don't have any grand plans like TNO or other big mods with planned content for the next 10 years on their roadmap, if you want you can just sign there with a bit of programing knowlandge and they will be pretty happy with another guy helping out with the mod.. The biggest dramas as of now were mostly on Reddit about AI art but thats about it. As for the other things which makes me appriciate this mod is the fact that they don't release unfinished content. What I mean by that? Missing icons, descriptions for important characters etc. when I see in OWB that some national spirits still have this fucking question mark GFX for the main factions like NCR or Legion after months or a year since their development while in EAW I would really need to dig in order to find that type of stuff, usually for temporary national spirits.

What I'm trying to say is that EAW has a level of detail in this small quality of life things that Kaiserreich gets constant praise of, but still make people mald over the fact of the pony thing and has some serious lack of promotion, one of the most popular videos on yt either being the most bogged down shit, playing as outdated nations or playing a nation,refusing to read the events and then complain or get confussed at what is happening. EAW has some of the most easy to read writing you can get because everything is there, you don't have to watch the show or read comics, everything is there for you, maybe few nations will be more confusing than others by how they approach things and you need to play as other countries or other of it's paths to understand the more board perspective. The nation that I can take from the top of my head that feels like that is Chiropterra, Chital , Kasa and few others.

Overall sorry for the long text here and probably going off the main topic that is TNO here, just wanted to give some of my points of the mod that I like to play, besides discussion about it online with other mates is nice

BTWH dropped a belated May Day teaser a few days after May Day, focusing on one of the bigger Mary Sues in their mod: Fred Hampton, the 'Black Messiah', and his Rainbow Coalition in Chicago.

The Black Panther idea of '(revolutionary) intercommunalism' expounded by Huey Newton & Fred Hampton IRL, being in theory an ideology advocating for a multiracial and multinational coalition of autonomous wholesome 100 communes to rise up & unite against the evil all-enslaving capitalist establishment ('reactionary intercommunalism') across first America and then the globe, has been shilled pretty hard and without irony on the server for ages. Naturally the devs must have it be possible to realize the intercommunalist utopia in their mod, and Hampton's just the man to be able to get this ideology off the ground even though he starts surrounded by suburbs filled with white people who moved there specifically to get away from the blacks shitting up the inner city a massive surge in crime, antisocial behavior generally, and urban decay (same story as a bunch of other metropolises around the country). You know, the kind of people who could totally be swayed to join/bow to an army comprised of allied inner-city minority gangs with explicit Communist leadership and the stated goal of ending America instead of, Idk, taking up arms to help the CPD, National Guard, etc. destroy them, especially in the late '60s and early '70s.

At the same time, these same devs have also confirmed that Illinois governor Otto Kerner cannot actually peacefully resolve the situation, because Hampton won't actually negotiate in good faith - he's there to overthrow the capitalist order, not reform it - and because his lieutenant-governor, historical Chicago mayor Richard Daley (subject of that Hitler 'stache & hairdo edit above, cursed for potentially rigging the 1960 election in Illinois in JFK's favor but also blessed for having the Chicago Police Department stomp the shit out of firstly mobs of rioting niggers in Chi-Town's own MLK riots and secondly the hippies at the DNC in the same year) will always oust him for being a retard trying to appease unpleasable insurgents who won't settle for anything less than the complete overthrow of 'Amerikkka'. Which sends a message far too accidentally based for BTWH: if you're ever faced with a commie insurrection you're supposed to land on them with both feet ASAP, no negotiating or any namby-pamby bullshit, because they will only ever use your kindness & mercy to stall for time and strengthen their position.

I'd like to write these clowns off as just that - inconsequential clowns who will never amount to anything, probably not even actually releasing the mod ever if bouts of infighting like this or the intrigues to push Laura/Logan of CHAZ infamy out were any indicators. But unfortunately there's no shortage of actually influential people who hold these views out there and are working tirelessly to propagate it to the next generations, like this faggot from Colorado or indeed whichever professors filled these morons' empty minds with this trash to begin with (you will notice that they make references to far-left theories & theoreticians throughout the exchange), they very much didn't come up with any of this stuff themselves but are the picture of what the Timecube guy would describe as 'educated stupid'. It's a retarded complaint, of course. Whichever fool spouted this wall of nonsense probably isn't even a HOI4 player, much less a TNO player. If they were, they'd know that actually trying to depict genocide in great detail would be a ticket to getting Paradox themselves involved to ban your mod - something which has already happened in TNO's own sphere last year or so IIRC, to a Huttig submod called 'Africa Addio' which would've let him genocide Africans.

I don't really think that's a bad outcome for Africa, they have self determination and freedom from foreign power and the ability to handle their issues without outside intervention. The US situation would obviously be a massive shit show however on the bright side it would probably put a solid "end" on US race relations if there is greece-turkey style population transfer.
