Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

The BNW thing is interesting, I saw in TNOcord some discussions about accusations of racism on the part of... someone? Thus, BNW (or, some version of it, I have no fucking idea what's where with this new split) was silently (though they admitted it in chat later) removed from TNO's affiliate list. I'm not sure if this 2WRW part has been added back, or if they were the ones saying mean words to the Asia devs and failing to damage control about it.

In any case, this is certainly affecting development, which is a shame because post-unification Russia and the Chinese warlords having actual fucking content was something I'd have liked to see, given that TNO devs will never get to either.

I know I'm a month late but I don't like the new Indian borders in Kaiserreich. I can't quite put my finger on it but it seems they want one country to win there all the time in every game now.

Pride Month has arrived. BTWH has begun their celebration of the deadliest of the Seven Sins with a California Federation political compass:

I don't really think that's a bad outcome for Africa, they have self determination and freedom from foreign power and the ability to handle their issues without outside intervention. The US situation would obviously be a massive shit show however on the bright side it would probably put a solid "end" on US race relations if there is greece-turkey style population transfer.
Isn't Pan-Africanism itself foreign to Africa? To my knowledge, the ideology didn't originate in Africa and the books about it from back in the day mostly stressed how awesome it would be as a tool to undermine America, which is pretty telling. I've also never seen an actual African (both online, and I mean absolutely everywhere I've ever run into so much as one person from there - from strategy gaming forums to travel forums to political forums/subforums - or in meatspace) support Pan-Africanism, it's literally always black Americans or Canadians who in all likelihood have never even been to Africa and seem to think that all Africans are basically the same because hey, they're all black and live on the same landmass right?

The actual Africans don't share this attitude and more often than not have ill feelings about their immediate neighbors, to say nothing of the rest of the continent. They certainly wouldn't recognize said African-Americans/Canadians as African, but rather just Americans or Canadians, which makes throwing in the South (where blacks are far from the majority) in that map even more ludicrous a prospect. As if the actual Africans wouldn't lol at the idea of holding hands and singing kumbaya with the descendants of the people their ancestors whooped and sold into slavery. And God help whoever thinks they can get a Hausa and Igbo, Tutsi and Hutu, or Ndebele and Shona (much less Africans from one coast of the continent and the other) to get along on the basis of 'how do you do my fellow black man?' and 'we should work together to banish whiteness from these lands'.

Taken from the Discord. Fixing a "balance issue" by tipping the scales in the favor of the syndies, typical KR. Supposedly giving them more population and industry is a "nerf".
These '''''fixes''''' in the name of balance & realism only ever cut one way. Devs would rather chew their own feet off than ever 'fix' any issue (real or imagined) with the mod in such a manner that might benefit the right wing.

Why even bother with this when their totally in progress Indian rework is just going to have Pakistan, the wholesome chungus Indian syndies, the Princley states, and the British reduced to Ceylon?

r/TNOmod did and as far as I know is the only one who did it besides r/Kaiserreich

That's kinda pitiable but to be fair most hoi4 mod subreddits are ghost towns
Even though I can't lurk there I am willing to bet a lot of money that the Syndie LARPers are making this blackout shit about worker oppression or some shit.

Middle/upper class cunts, the lot of them.
It's worse than that, this is not a boycott but a pathetic virtue signal. They are only gone for two days. Reddit is going to see there users as battered housewives (which they are) that will go back to them not mattering to what Reddit does.
From the Reddit thread:
Rossmann weighs in again on the reddit "blackout". He points out that a 2 day blackout is nothing because you're effectively telling reddit that it doesn't matter what they do, you will be back in 2 days. A protest/blackout needs to be indefinite to force real change. Also he references Daniel Micay again which gave me a chuckle.
Louis seems to hold redditors in much higher regard than he should especially since a lot of them have falsely attacked him for no good reason. I sincerely doubt reddit jannies would be able to get off reddit long enough to boycott it effectively because theyre all basement dwellers and theyre all hopelessly addicted to the site.

Let's rank hoi4 conversion mods that are out as of the middle of 2023.

1.) New Ways, Road to 56, and Black Ice - Really impossible to play hoi4 without any of these mods as they dramatically improve the game. I really wish someone could combine New ways and Road to 56 into one mod for the ultimate hoi4 WWII experience.

2.) The Great War Redux - The unofficial World War I mode. I don't mind the scripted peace deals as they make the mod interesting like how if the Central powers or Russia wins then the plot of Kaiserreich an ITNOTT happens. Some of the nations like China could go through a rework though.

3.) Equestria at War- Ponies lol.

4.) Kaiserredux - Great overall, I understand why some don't like meme modness side of this mod. It's fun over all but those loading times though.

5.) Der Bruderkreig- Challenging, Satisfying, and overall good. Highly recommend to play as Prussia.

6.) Old World Blues- War, war never changes.

7.) Age of Imperialism - This mod's World War feels like more of a World War than most mods.

8.) Pax Britannica - Right now it's alright, in a few updates it might be great.

9.) Main game Kaiserreich LoTWK - It's still alright, there have been good and bad changes. My opinion on the current state of Kaiserreich would of been worse had Kaiserredux not existed.

10.) In The Name of the Tsar - I like how the German war at the beginning determines what the ensuing World War later in the mod would be about. It's a pity that development has ceased.

11.) Thousand Week Reich - High number of nukes go boom!

12.) The Sun Shining on the world - Based Jap made mod. Like Pax Britannica this one has a lot of potential. Please work on Pelley's America next.

13.) Cold War Iron Curtain - It's an interesting Cold War simulator. Not exactly fun but things become interesting when they go off script.

14.) Red World - It's ashamed that Kaiser sadly died, Red World's Italy tree is peak hoi4 modding.
It's new devs are kinda annoying sometimes with long update wait times too.

15.) The Crossover World mod - Kinda fun to play as plus it's the only hoi4 mod I know that has Shrek in it.

16.) Fuhrerredux - It's alright but it has a long ways to go before it becomes as good as Kaiserredux.

17.) End of a New Beginning - At least the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom is fun to play.

18.) The New Order Last days of Europe - The few good parts of the mod have been slowly been strangled out of existence. Also it seems to be impossible to make a redux or a submod for this one without it falling apart from in-group drama.

19.) Nouva Vexillum - Millennial Dawn but at least playable.

20.) Millennial Dawn - The boring 2000s and 2010s

There's a number of mods being developed right now but as far as I'm concerned they are all tooser mods.

I feel the Minecraft mod deserves a mention, while its rough in places and the setting is a pretty memey idea, it is still a really good mod that tries a interesting idea and executes it well.
There are a few others that I've forgotten to mention like the Avatar the Last Airbender mod. I've not played it yet but it looks as faithful to the setting as a hoi4 mod can get.

How about mods like Darkest Hour, World War Zero or that new Star Wars mod? Also the Ace Combat mod released a demo or something the other day, centered around the Belka war I think (not familiar with AC lore).

There was a fantasy mod that I think is still a WIP, Irathea or something. Interesting setup but It's a massive WIP.
Irathea - City of Hate or something like that.

That reminds me, there's a very promising mod with a prolific lead dev, called Tides of Terror, but it remains to be seen if it ends up as a teaser mod. Pretty cool British Isles-centric premise with something of a Lovecraftian theme, taking place in mid-1800's.
