Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

I don't entirely mind playing up the silicon thing to an extent, from what I've gone through so far it's an interesting enough exploration of electronics history and a what-if around the Zaibatsus (et al). The writing ain't half bad. Even so, it continues to be fairly dull to deal with economics in a war game, perhaps an inevitable result of latching-on this sort of mechanic to an engine that, charitably, is supposed to be about managing front lines and supply with the occasional civilian factory queue. Interesting events are where TNO makes up for this, when it can, but it's hard to get past how utterly boring waiting for focuses gets without them.

I can't say which side of the line this update falls on yet, though the strategy of releasing nations one-by-one is promising, I suppose? If they didn't each take as long as continent-wide overhauls were supposed to, that is. It's utterly beyond belief that we're going to have to trudge through a decade of fourth-order reworks and "skeleton content" before a functioning GAW is in the cards (in theory, of course, in truth this'll collapse well before that).
Guangdong was supposed to come out with Mexico and Canada content, but the TNO devs bit off way more than they can chew with that and just released Guangdong on its own. Though to be fair, not missing too much out on Canada and Mexico, both of which just seem to be boring democracy gameplay, except with Canada you don't have as much power to actually manage foreign policy (aka proxy wars) because you're America Jr. and Mexico is just, Mexico.

The only takeaway I can get from Canada is probably the SoCreds because it's not often you get to see them in any alternate history. Though I can already tell they'll make the SoCreds into the token 'unwholesome path' for Canada. Oh and like Pro-Japanese Mexico.

I'm only aware of its happenings when it was a CK2 mod and the fan fork adding dumb shit like Islam to a mod where it really shouldn't be, if I remember correctly it was because one of the devs was a Muslim? I'm not surprised now its a CK3 mod its absolutely plagued since it was already going that way.

Not familiar but it does not surprise me. The rannisaries are a virus that infects everything and demands every media caters and panders to them 24/7. I would guess they are wanting to insert a bunch of troon shit as if post-apocalypse barely 1800s tech civlization would have that shit with hormones and the like. Maybe screeching about factions or cultures in the mod being "bigoted" and "fascistic".

I find it pretty funny that the first new content for a GERMAN WORLD WAR TWO VICTORY mod is some shitty Japanese colony nobody cares about.

Another ACTUALLY cool idea for Mexico would have been for a third worldist type government with Japanese backing takes power, they massively build up their forces and after the Zimmerman telegram 2.0 or border raids it prompts the US to invade and fight a long and bloody war. To spice things up you can have the Germans supporting a Criollo/Castizo sepratist rebellion and the US can either chose to work with the Germans to contain the bigger threat(aka some actual spicy cold war content) or they can invade them as well and make the war even worse.

That is way too unrealistic. What about another 100 events of evil nazies murdering wholesome LGBT couples? Or maybe a communist russian unifier? Scratch that. Another rework of USA politics is in order. Also we are scrapping all content for germany. The only path will be a full on collapse into communism. Nazi germany actually lasting more than a femtosecond is way too unrealistic.

When they are done with the realism circlejerk they will be left with a OTL cold war except everyone is gay(er).

Been a while since I played CK2. But yes, back before CK3's release, the head dev of After The End trooned out and used his Discord's announcements channel to sperg about trans charities (and also BLM back during the Summer of Love). I remember they also took great pains to de-Confederatize the Holy Columbian Confederacy (the HRE/Byz equivalent spanning most of the South) and even made its founder a black guy with a white wife to own the Confederaboo chuds years ago.

Islam was indeed added in SoCal by a Muslim dev who has since apparently parted ways with the mod team, presumably because the complete tranny saturation got to be too much and reawakened whatever spirit of throwing alphabet soup types off rooftops still existed within him. This has not stopped him from making a prequel mod for ATE titled Just After The End, starring the ancestor of the main Muslim ruler in ATE who he insists isn't his self-insert (that would be a baron under said Muslim ruler, supposedly).

In more recent years, the ATE team seems to have gone through the usual drama that always breaks out when a critical mass of perpetually seething trannies have gathered in one place. Meltdowns, backstabbing, and apparently they fired tons of coders (including the head troon of their coding department, who apparently was one of the only people who still did work) at one point, greatly delaying the pace at which new updates would come out. I haven't bothered with CK3 because I don't really want to burn another couple hundred dollars on DLC over the years when CK2 is already a pretty complete game, but I can only imagine it's gotten 50,000 times worse in ATE's case as the remaining devs go full retard and purge any remaining checks on their behavior.

I never played much of the CK2 mod, just because I found it boring but an interesting concept. I stay far away from CK3 mods both because the mod teams for them seem like absolute HOI4 dogshit and because I despise CK3 as a game.

Keep in mind, it's a shitty *fictional* Japanese colony that never had any precedent IRL. Its literally a fanfic tag made from the ground up to be Jap Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, just because? They could've at least made Manchuria content and achieved the same effect, but it would've actually been interesting because Manchuria in a post-Axis WW2 victory is actually a somewhat neat idea with solid grounding.

Manchuria would've been dope, just saying. Imagine Terry's 'Nigger Cattle' ultimatum speech but it's from the perspective of a Jap with his Han cattle, would've been kino.

For one, the argument that content has been removed for "the sake of performance" seems to have turned into the go-to excuse the dev team apologists use, with zero actual indication that performance was the issue. Yes, sure, technically speaking removing all content from a country will improve performance, but that's true for any nation. There's no proof Göring or any other country that has been removed (except Brittany, the performance problem of which could have probably been fixed with a simple array overhaul) was impacting performance more than any other given country.

Secondly, there is no such thing as an unfixable country. Once again there is no evidence at all that there was something fundamentally wrong with Göring, his content or the code within. The code was likely out of date for sure, but at some point so was the code for every other nation in the mod. Those nations were updated, but for whatever reason, nobody in the team seems interested in fixing Göring. Maybe its because his path is quite gameplay-heavy, aka. not a narrative preachfest. And God forbid somebody were to have fun actually playing TNO, couldn't be me.

I think the removal of Göring will definitively prove that the fanbase is full-on copium huffing at this point, watching from the sidelines while the dev team ravage what little good there was in the mod to begin with. But oh well, they brought this on themselves by not gatekeeping hard enough.

How exactly would Goring's content get broken in the first place? From what I remember it was just progressively declaring war on everyone until you either win or WWIII bad end, the only way I could think of that breaking is if you did something like changes country tags.
 
Goring was removed because i guess we cant allow players to have that much war in our wargame, not even in just one path :(
edit, seriously its a germany victory in ww2 setting, and you wont even allow the player to start a totalretardenkrieg as germany battling the entire world. These devs truly dont know what having fun is.
