Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

Has anyone here played the After The End mod for CK2? It actually has a Confederate successor state that uses the games HRE mechanic, but is done in a way where the people know literally nothing about the CSA and blacks can become emperor.

How comes OWB devs can't be that creative?
Its not the actual Confederacy, its just a thematically named empire controlling the protestant bible belt.
 
I don't think there was a literal Confederate character/faction in Fallout 3 (unless maybe they mentioned in the lore that Paulson from Mothership Zeta was a former Confederate but that's just a guess since a lot of cowboys historically were ex-Confederates) but there's a Slaver faction...

Ran by a Black guy. Who also want to tarnish any relics of Abraham Lincoln since his very existence gives their slaves inspiration to rebel, so lol. Somehow they predicted BLM circa 2020 where niggos go tarnish statues and relics of the very side that fought for them.

You know when you said Confederates and Fallout 3 my mind imediatly jumped to the Brotherhood Outcasts. I guess that they are technically the closest to the whole "serious political differences causes the nation to split" but other than that there is no real connection.

What's even stranger is that I found someone using an effect called on_yearly in the on_actions folder, despite no such effect existing. Did nobody check the hoi4 wiki?

I suspect they confused it with a different Clausewitz Engine game modding. Some very similar code exists in EU4 and CK2 to deal with yearly events, so maybe they thought it would work on HoI4.

Yeah jannies can change it if requested, I think the OP would need a rewrite first fthough.
Out of curiosity what sort stuff would people want in a hypothetical Paradox modding thread OP, obviously TNO is the big one but I'm sure the horsefucker mod and OWB have plenty of drama if people would go digging.
What about other paradox games, I think the CK3 Elder scrolls mod had drama regarding gay marriage being legalized by default with no way to outlaw it and some other LGBT shit, the CK3 ATE port has had a lot of drama associated with it too from what I remember.

I recall one of the pony devs was a massive alcoholic who would stream while drunk. In any case, a lot of mods have their dev chats in the same discord as the public chats, so someone might be able to get at them with a discord archiver.

For HoI4 - obligatory mention that the pony mod is the least deranged of the major HOI4 mods, Kaiserreich insanity with its subreddit and devs being unironic syndicalists who get gaylogged by the Redux, Muppetfan, the Great War mod trying to make a standalone game that's in dev hell, the recurring issues of grooming in modding discords - there's an overabundance of potential subjects.

CK3 - Abovementioned Elder Scrolls faggotry, anything juicy about Panzer and Godherja, ATE port's less than subtle progressive politisperging, the fact that Paradox invested all that time and money into making 3d character models only for people to just use them to make sex mods.

CK2 - also sex mods, the fact that a lot of the most reviled Paradox devs (Wiz, Neondt, Groogy, etc.) got their start working as well-liked CK2 modders.

Stellaris - Paradox (Wiz) going after mods on the Steam Workshop that they didn't like, especially anything to do with human phenotypes.

EU4 - some EU4 devs (who were former modders themselves) made some disparaging remarks about modders years ago that caused an uproar (I know for a fact that it caused the Iaponia Universalis devs to cancel continued development of their mod), and EU4 kept changing its launcher for no reason which would keep breaking the ability to play mods, sometimes for as long as half a year. There might be some modding drama - the sort of autism that inspired Abennar to add dungeon crawling to a map painting game would ensure it - but I haven't seen anything comparable to HoI4. AFAIK the only thing that comes close was some guy called Tinholt who just made mods adding new music and event pictures that became the pet lolcow of the EU4 modding community for having an ego the size of the sun, right up to demanding early access from the devs on their forums because his aesthetic mods were just that important to keep up to date.

Imperator Rome - prior to launch Paradox contacted a bunch of modders from their other games and offered them steam keys and beta access if they made mods for the game that were ready for launch on day 1. In hindsight this was obviously just another sign of the dumpster fire that would be that game's launch and dev cycle, but it is modding relating.

Victoria 2 - I've not seen much drama between the mods, but there was the fact that Paradox effectively went to war with the V2 fanbase, most of which are modders nowadays, over V3's launch.

It's probably worth mentioning too that Paradox modding nowadays is almost entirely centralized on Discord (as opposed to the Paradox Plaza forums, which is where it used to be) and that a lot of them are related to modding coopt servers which enable tranny groomers to get their hooks into multiple mods.

That's all the stuff that comes to mind; I'm not as in-touch with PDX modding as a was in the last decade, especially because it moved away from the Paradox forums, but anyone willing to venture discord could probably find a gold mine. You couldn't pay me to touch Vicky 3 but I'm fairly certain there's some drama there too.
 
I'm actually surprised at some of the stuff they can get away with on the steam workshop. I guess genocide mechanics are okay as long as you don't directly call it genocide, not that I'm complaining.

I do have a bad feeling about that mod's future though, either the usual suspects will cry to steam and paradox about the chuddy stuff or they'll worm their way into the team and remove it themselves. I know they're already reworking one of the Chinese analog religions to be "a deeply complex religion born of yet which perpetuates cultural trauma" because "The continent of Haless is incredibly important to the Chinese community". I hope I'm being paranoid but terms like cultural trauma and trying to appease minorities sets off red flags for me.
You reminded me that the CK2 Elder scrolls mod has a decision to troon out that switches your characters gender, think it costs 500 gold. I know its a thing in the MMO but theres no need to put it in a map game mod and given how unhinged the CK3 mod's devs are I'd wager the CK2 dev team was ground zero for that shit. Also, how the fuck do you make sex mods for CK2 all you see is the head and neck of your character.

Yeah him and Wiz coming into possession of Vicky 3 and then crashing it with no survivors would make it worth mentioning without going into any of the drama around the shilling or the V2 community trying to make Open Vic 2 as an alternative. Nevermind that Paradox hired Pacifica after it was well established even within the HoI4 modding community that he was an amputee fetishist who wanted to have gay sex with a genocidal war criminal.
Also, how the fuck do you make sex mods for CK2 all you see is the head and neck of your character.
Events, traits, character actions, etc. that essentially turn CK2 into poorly written CYOA smut.

There was a KR artist who also got hired on by PDX. (Indyfan I think?) In any case, hiring fans is an iffy bet. Exhibit A: Todd Howard. If he and Pacifica can get a job then maybe I can con my way into PDX. My first order of business will be to make ck3 even more unplayable.

What about other paradox games
These are history games there must be historical content, I'm talking about Magna Mundi and the Ubik debacle where a long spiral of non sanity culminated as he tried to use Portuguese copyright law to claim he owned the Clausewitz engine and ended up in a mental ward.
As for the Paradox Community itself there have been various controversies: the remove kebab incident, the polanball controversy, and my favourite; The Cyclical Nature of the Infinite God Thread and the resulting 300 page schism.

What's the story here?
Early into Stellaris there were some mods that changed the old (better) human phenotypes to be of only certain races; e.g. only caucasians, only asians, only africans, etc. Paradox, iirc, demanded the removal of the only white ones but was fine with the others staying up. There were also 3rd reich mods they struck down.
 
Those mods are still around but they're flagged as "incompatible" and quarantined in gay baby mod jail, unlike the coomer mods the edgy flag packs don't break any ToS so they dump them in the forbidden zone because they're too mentally estrogenised to be a man and just outright delete them, WEAK.
