Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

I take it that trying to apply more than three years of updates is not easy right?
It's nearly 4 years at this point. Main issue at this point is all the gui modifications the mod has. Right now, selecting a division or general has a 50% chance of crashing the game, trying to open the general trait is a 100% crash, volunteer submenu doesn't work, and the technology menu doesn't have functional scroll bars (though the ai has no issues researching tech). Worst comes to worst, I gut some of the more problematic gui changes and use vanilla gui elements, which don't look to bad mixed with the tno gui if I do say so myself.

There was a KR artist who also got hired on by PDX. (Indyfan I think?) In any case, hiring fans is an iffy bet. Exhibit A: Todd Howard. If he and Pacifica can get a job then maybe I can con my way into PDX. My first order of business will be to make ck3 even more unplayable.
Doing a test run with Italy and I successfully turned it into a socialist empire. I have been successfully deradicalized. All blackshirts to the gulags.

Also unearthed this ancient meme. No wonder I was once excited for this mod; it was 100% pure, 1000kg/mL, solid autism

Wait,Fucking Todd Howard was a goody two shoes fan back in the Daggerfall days?
Damm i guess we should try our chances for Paradox or any other company in the future atleast one of us will get the same luck.

Iron Curtain is adding fun alternate paths that go beyond electing the Soycial Democrats instead of the Christian Democrats in the West Slovadian parliamentary elections of 1963?
nope, i was just fucking around with the debugging stuff. iron curtain content is pretty broken anyways, for example the PRCs 60s tree doesnt work and it hasnt worked for like 5 or 6+ months now. by doesnt work i mean it literally does not appear after the game ticks onto 1960. the same goes true for the PRC 1960s defeat tree, regardless of if wang ming (the guy who takes over after mao) even conquers the RoC in the great asian war. so that's basically two full focus trees of content just gone all because they're working on a china rework for 0.4 and they cant be bothered to even set up a hotfix to at least let you experience the content. not too big of a deal for me since im playing as kaganovich (i intend to play until 1980 and i started in 1949, its currently 1975), but even the last event where he resign in favor of either ustinov or shelepin doesnt even change the leader, its just there for cosmetic effects. the only reason i play it is because im a sucker for cold war content which is probably why i love TNO in spite of its flaws

Dude apparently has a bet with a friend that not only will there be a civil war post 2024 election but that there will be 1000 bodies by april
Civil War doomposters are some of dumbest people on the right. If you really think Zoomers of all people are going to revolt against the government then you’re completely out of touch.

Even with it buggy it apparently has over 40 to 50 years of content to go from 49 to the 80s.
for the majors, yeah. it goes up to 1980 so youre technically right. even then, it's pretty buggy and outright missing important events. if you want an example: nasser never dies if he's leading egypt, there's a bunch of focus trees for nations nobody will play, see: ghana, kenya, burma, and even nicaragua. and the gureilla conflict system is aids, i would take any TNO minigame with a thousand things to keep track of over that shit

Ah yes. I have always been a proponent that majors should be given content and after that spread out to minors. Even with that said I am still confused why some mods give bumfuck literal who nations content. Sorta like how MD gave Fiji a giant ass focus tree but the UK tree has not changed since its initial 2015 release when HOI4 first came out.

Because Fiji is full of poojeets who displaced the actual native Islander population and poojeets get off to doing that to every country they come across.

KX just updated and added New Foundland as a minor tag to the game map. Normally I don't like these 1-2 province minors KX adds because they play no real part to any given run, but New Foundland is an exception because it can turn Syndicalist in one event path and give the TI a much needed foothold in North America against the Entente.

You should absolutely do this. TNO's UI makes my eyes hurt.

To be fair, what's available now/the fork I have is not as bad as the release version. They used to use this hideous font that, without exaggeration, negatively impacted the games playability.

If I were to tweak the tno UI in one small way, I'd lighten things up. Even dark and gritty horror games don't have this much pitch black in their uis. I suppose they might have been mimicking the UI for Metal Gear Solid. But in Metal Gear's case, the item menus are small and out of the way and the codec conversations had animation and voice work to "fill" them.

Granted my talents in the visual arts are outmatched by cave drawings, so take my opinions lightly.

Now that I'm thinking of Metal Gear, I recall that Kojima claimed he wanted to be a movie director. Maybe in TNO, Metal Gear could be an action movie, as a silly flavor event.

i know this is ancient at this point, but what's the consensus on slackjawed, the guy who made the videos on TNOs meltdown?
I can't speak on the quality of his videos, but they did help get the word out to normies. At least it's how I learned about Pacifica's... proclivities.

Not as comprehensive as this thread though. Here I got to learn that many discord users I talked to l enjoyed discussing their sexual fantasies.

You talked to TNO devs on the 'cord? Got anything interesting to share.

Not much, I didn't have the intellect to weasel my way into their ranks back then. Mostly they just overshared details about their personal lives. Daddy issues, lack of girlfriends, pictures of their schools, field trips, and other boring crap like that. I guess there was that time when Panzer failed to upload a demo on time because his internet sucked. And there were a lot of weebs. A LOT of weebs. So much so that they turned the server into a my hero academia shipping server for april fools. (Trash manga by the way, read Vigilantes and Smash!)
