Post colonial Sub Saharan Africa is interesting but not really in a war game ideological struggle sort of way. Most of the historical conflicts can be boiled down to Tribe A hates Tribe B because Tribe B controls the government and hogs all the resources leading to civil war, coup, etc. which Foreign Nations C and D try exploit to their own ends.

I'm sorry but with even with the benefit of a doubt that a better researched project can result in more compelling alt-history I still can't fanthom why would anybody prefer cutting content in favor of what is at best only in the imagination of the devs rather than in the mod, and objectively more boring comparatively. It's always the same excuses, that the old content was shit yaddiyadda. If it was, then why did it spawn such a huge following for the mod? Can't also forget about the "but the chuds are owned so it's worth it" mindset.

The old content was shit, the new content is much more interesting and better once you read into the setting beyond a glance at the map, and TNO Africa was probably the least impactful in "spawning a huge following for the mod" when put next to USA, Europe, Russia and probably even Japan. Also, there's no way to own the chuds here from this, TNO's old Africa basically had a BTWH-tier shitfest going on in West Africa.

Wouldn't hold my breath and expect the current dev team to realize the full potential of what's described in the posts, even if the old setting was just hand waving a whole continet and spawning three German colonies on top of it. Africa may have not been the center of attention for many like Russia's warlords or the United States, but it's disingenious to say it was less iconic than any of the parts you've mentioned. Huttig's wild ride, the South African War, Kongo Muller, the West African War, all gathered significant attention. Last time I remember anybody talking about Japan was when Kishi was still a thing.

Calphrica is a testament to how any amount of developmental wrangling is completely pointless when you can just splinter, get something done and then just wait patiently while TNO-proper comes for you and begs you to integrate because they have nothing to show for years now.
Calphrica is also a testament to how you can just remove developers from a part of the mod and hijack its direction entirely with nothing or no-one to stop you.

The developers have had a case of "realism" fever for a while now. Case in point, the Russia content post civil war where you have to deal with the entire Soviet + Russian army disbanding. Oh, and how railroaded the entirety of post war content is. It's surprising they didn't remove the alt history content last time they updated the German focus tree when adding the economic parts of the focus tree.
Just looking at the focus tree it's a mess, none of it flows, and it's meant to become more and more like Kaiserreich (it for instance is eerily similar to the French focus tree). Because apparently every fucking mod has to either be Kaiserreich or TNO.
And there's the influx of adding gimmicky decision mechanics. If I'm playing a world war game, I'm playing it because I want to fight a war. Not constantly click decisions and do a larp of (yes I know politics is a part of war but shit can be applied to exist. There are things like stability and war support for a reason). The only vanilla game country with an ounce of poltiical simulation is the United States, and that it is so limited that it shouldn't really count. - There are what, only 5 focuses linked to congress in a historical play? And even then, it's not a good mechanic.
And the one feature that they could have added for a mechanic that would have made sense, which they didn't, is an adaption of the Mussolini missions for the German Reich.
