racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

I just wish they'd port the last two games to PC, instead of leaving them stuck on previous generation consoles.
MC2 is unironically one of my favorite racers unfortunatly my ps2 silm died out so i couldnt play MC3 btw is the music in MC3 the same as in MC2 or it has too much nigger music .

The music in MC3 is a healthy mix of multiple styles, and you can choose which style you want to listen to, whether that be rap or rock. That being said, the soundtrack is one aspect of the game that gets universal praise. Like, even the rap is good.

Hell yea, MC3's soundtrack is so kino

The new Forza Motorsport game will be an "always online" title, just like The Crew 2 and Gran Turismo 7:

And Car Leveling will apparently be a thing in the FM game.

Those two changes are definitely making this game a hard PASS for me.

Two special Barbie cars, a reskinned GMC Hummer EV, and an EV Corvette C1, have been given to FH5 players for free.

In other news, The Crew Motorfest will have a feature to allow players to import their cars from The Crew 2. I'm not sure if it like this, as it seems to erase a lot the grind, which should at least be part of a racing game in some sort of way. GT7 overdid the grind aspect, and Forza Horizon tends to give out cars too easily, so a nice happy medium between the two would be ideal.

Oh god, it looks hideous!

It appears that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown's release date may be delayed to next year:

It sounds like either development trouble, or that the game is just flat-out vaporware. Note also that this isn't the first delay on the game's release, as it was revealed in 2020, and originally had a release date for 2022, but was pushed back to 2023, and it looks to be pushed back again.

And here's the map of Oahu in The Crew Motorfest:

As previously mentioned, the map is not a 1:1 re-creation of the island, as some regions of the island appear to be either simplified or removed. Those include Kapolei (probably part of Kalaeloa), the Kahala-Aina Haina-Niu Valley area between Diamond Head and Hawaii Kai, Kailua, Aiea, Pearl City, and Waipahu.

Pretty pathetic considering that Test Drive Unlimited was able to accomplish that over 10 years ago.

Also, I think this video by Raycevick incapsulates the current problems with the racing game genre pretty succinctly:

The Crew 2 is Free-to-Play this weekend, to celebrate Season 9's (?) release.

The game is also on sale for up to 90% off, so $5 for the Standard Version, and $10 for the Gold Version.

There's still a popular NFS World private server called Soapbox World, you should try it out if you have the feels for it.
you can play NFS World in your own personal private server though and even open it to allow others to play if you know how to host shit.
Midnight Club: Los Angeles has the best open world in any racing game to date.
i can't say, never played it since i never had a reason to buy a console outside PS2, i don't know how the game runs when emulated since i know emulation for PS3 is painful as shit, i'm still on the wait for fable 2 to be emulated...
Wish Midnight Club could come back.
MC and Burnout are only passing memoirs now.

Xenia on canary branch works well

TDU had an event broadcast today, showing more stuff in TDU Solar Crown. The release date is said to be in "Early 2024", and a Closed Beta will be available soon. The other big news is that some KT Racing personnel have gone on strike, due to wanting better work conditions, although it's to be seen if it's actually because the workers are working in shitty conditions, or that they're just soft, and using that as an excuse.

The state of the game, based on what was in the livestream, does not look good at all. The game has frame rate drops, Hong Kong looking very barren, to the point that even Motorfest looks like it's a much better game (so far).

It's an Alpha so I'm a bit forgiving towards it, but it honestly feels like a Horizon clone with some of the UI, mainly the mini-map & the speedometer. Hong Kong really does look barren tho, it genuinely looks too generic, & it's highly possible it could be for optimising reasons, but Sleeping Dogs did a great job with their Hong Kong, so I can't see why this can't do the same, if not surpass it.

It looks like Playground Games resolved their licensing issues with Stellantis, as their missing brands will be returning to Forza Horizon next month, as revealed on their livestream:

Now if only Polyphony Digital can do the same with Volvo and Lotus, although that's a more difficult task, due to those brands being owned by Geely, and Chinese manufacturers don't want to license their cars for Japanese racing games, for probably obvious reasons. And PD hasn't said anything about licensing Koenigsegg cars either, even though their cars have been featured in other racing games for a while.

Midnight Club LA was truly one of the greatest racers of the 7th generation. I liked that game because it captures how the street racing scene of LA is like. More focus on the tuners, the muscles, the low riders, with a small grouping of exotic cars (Lambos, Ford GT, Cobra Concept, Aston Martins, etc) + around four sports bikes to handle like geckos.

MC3 is superior to LA, but with all of the recent mediocre racing games coming out recently, I yearn for the days of a new MC:LA style game where devs try to capture the vibe of cities and their car cultures. I especially would like one in Chicago (unbound did a mediocre job at that especially with that shitty ghetto art style they went with)

Mack from Worth a Buy hated what he saw of the game. It does look like a Forza Horizon clone.

And also Re/Volt. Nothing but treasures from the past
That game should be played on pc for a simple reason: every car configuration is stored in text files. It's super fun to mess around with and most of our time playing it back in the day was spent creating weird monsters and then trying to race them. All aspects of the car can be modified, like individual spring stiffness, power output etc. It's like juicing real rc cars except even more absurd and it shows how good the physics simulation of that game was for the time.
