racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

Completely unrelated, but I've completed one mandatory event after a hiatus and unlocked 11 cars in my garage, three of which are luxurious sports cars.

I don't know, I haven't watched it. It's supposed to be about some promotional thing where they took epic GT gamers and taught them to be real world racers, the main dude going on to be a professional driver. Oddly, it seems they race-bent him from Black to White.
It's because it's not out yet (it's currently playing in limited theatres but it's set to be released wide in two weeks). It just ;looks like shit

The new Gran Turismo movie may have the claim that it's "based on a true story," but is it really?

The movie does re-order the timeline of certain events, for the purpose of building up drama. One example is the Nürburgring crash that killed a spectator, took place several years after the LeMans race IRL, but happens before the LeMans race in the movie. Several characters are also "re-imagined", and the romance plots are tacked on.

Which would've been used in a different movie. This is literally Ford v. Ferrari but with a Sony game tacked in

Some pictures of an upcoming Forza mobile game (despite Forza Street sucking absolute ass, and they decide to try it again) have been released:

And yet another feature will be unavailable on launch in the new Forza Motorsport game, as Nurburgring Nordschleife will not be available until next year:

Given all of the features that won't be available on launch, it does make you wonder how big of a mess this game's development has been.

Ubisoft will allow players to try out The Crew Motorfest for 5 hours, for free, between 9/14 and 9/17:

So this is sort of like the old Trial Versions of games that used to be a thing in the past, sort of.

Ubisoft posted another trailer for The Crew Motorfest as well:

All of this sounds terribly retarded

the thing about the the Gran Turismo movie that turned me off immediately was that shitty tag line "it's like Rocky with racecars"

Turn 10 announced the Tracks in Forza Motorsport 2023, that will be available on launch.

The tracks are:
  • Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
  • Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
  • Eaglerock Speedway
  • Grand Oak Raceway
  • Hakone Circuit
  • Homestead-Miami Speedway
  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway
  • Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit
  • Laguna Seca Raceway
  • Le Mans - Circuit International de la Sarthe
  • Lime Rock Park
  • Maple Valley
  • Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
  • Mugello Circuit
  • Nürburgring GP*
  • Road America
  • Silverstone Circuit
  • Suzuka Circuit
  • Virginia International Raceway
  • Watkins Glen International Speedway
Nice to see Mid-Ohio in the track list too, as I don't know if any racing games have that track. The loss of Daytona and Road Atlanta is a letdown though.

The removed tracks from FM7 are:
  • Autodromo Nazionale Monza
  • Bernese Alps
  • Brands Hatch
  • Circuit of the Americas
  • Daytona International Speedway
  • Dubai Circuit
  • Hockenheimring
  • Long Beach
  • Mount Panorama Circuit
  • Nurburgring *(Coming Spring 2024)
  • Prague
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • Road Atlanta
  • Sebring International Raceway
  • Sonoma Raceway
  • Test Track Airfield
  • Top Gear Test Track
  • Yas Marina Circuit
GT7 also had a patch today, which made pretty much no changes, given the extremely short patch notes.

Red Bull Gaming posted a Behind The Scenes video, of The Crew Motorfest's audio design:

And Forza is still using the same models going back to the original FM1 (?) in FM2023:

Although to compare GT7 to this isn't the best comparison, with all of the gameplay shortcomings GT7 has.

Am I the only one who misses old-timey top down racing games?

The physics can be a bit funky and the viewpoint can be a bit discombobulating, but there's something about them that's just fun. A nice palate cleanser if you need a break from playing current year hyper-realistic driving games.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 was my favorite racing game. It had a combination of fantasy themes like driving in exotic locations with volcanos, palm trees and the best pursuit mechanics that incorporated a system with helicopters and spike strips.

The only contender for me is Need For Speed Carbon which is great, but severely lacks in replayability because once the career mode ends there are very few activities to do to earn money to buy new cars. If they incorporated the same system as Midnight Club LA and let you play the game on freemode at the end allowing you to buy cars and upgrades for free that would honestly make it 100 times better.

The Corvette E-Ray, one of the cover cars in Forza Motorsport 2023, will also be available in Forza Horizon 5, but only if you purchase FM2023, or play it on Game Pass:

That has got to be one of the dumbest ways to gate a car unlock.

And the next season of unlocks for FH5 include two BMW EVs, and two Rivians:

There's also a new trailer for EventLab additions in the next season:

0/10, fuck you Forza. I know Road Atlanta is getting pretty patchy, but it's still an active track for several motorsport groups.

Another TDU Solar Crown trailer, called Cruiser, has been posted as well:

I'm hoping beyond hope that this game turns out alright. I spent a lot of nights with the boys cruising the map and playing blackjack in Test Drive Unlimited 2 way back in the day.
