Ramadan killings

Islamic terrorists love to murder people during Ramadan. Although Ramadan is a time of fasting, self-restraint, and reflection for most Muslims, Islamist terrorists believe that there is no better time to rape, hurt, and murder people. In fact, the head of ISIS has encouraged its militants to kill as many "kuffir" as possible. Because of the sheer volume of attacks during Ramadan by groups like ISIS, Boko Haram, and so on, I thought it would be a good idea to have a general thread on this time period.

I'll get started with some of the most prominent attacks so far:
I got depressed and stopped looking for news. This is probably just a third, if not less, of what's happened just since Ramadan started. Unfortunately, we're probably going to be seeing a lot more attacks, both in the Middle East and in the West.

Do you know what defines us as people? It's easy to forget, given the suite of fucking fragile eggs we have out there trying to pull the professional victim canard, but it's our endurance. It's not hard to imagine where that came from when it comes to the States; we were a melting pot where we had everyone from Italians to the Irish settle here, and pretty much all of them had to endure getting their shit punched in in some fashion or another.

We are survivors, and no matter what is thrown at us, we endure. The US Government may have a bunch of asshats who should have left these religious fundamentalist pricks to burn in the sand alongside their stone-age belief structure ages ago, and they may have plenty of regressives who are tripping over themselves to apologize for their shit, but they sure as shit aren't going to stop anyone from mocking them, or indeed, calling a turd a turd.

Though he's from Canada, I'm reminded of what happened with Brote (of Bro Team Pill fame) a few years back. For the uninitiated, Brote had made a few jokes about the Prophet Mohammed in his videos, and this led to widespread response by the usual suspects accusing him of Islamophobia. Brote's response was.... Well, this:

At this point, Brote got even more vicious responses, which he then responded to with this.... Masterpiece:

Take a long, hard lesson from that magnificent Canadian motherfucker, Kiwis.

Make fun of the assholes screaming about Islamophobia like it's going out of style, because they will invariably chimp over it. The lolcows are certainly giving themselves the vapors over it, and it'd be remiss of us to not take advantage of this and hammer such an obvious weak point like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

Very informative post, and you do make a great point. However let us remember there are those who happen to be many Muslims who also condemn such actions from the fundamentalists. We shouldn't make blanket-statements and demonize an entire people.
That being said, the people who you're referring to are definitely lolcows.

Does the guy in Texas today count or do they need to be successful to count for the peaceful love of Ramadan?

best will in the world mate, but you really do not need to chime in with an apology on every Islamic thread. If you do you will end up posting here more than ADK or me and that is frankly tragic.

If islam has a genuine problem one apologetic kuwaiti is not likely to convince us otherwise and in anycase i dont think any of us dispute that you and your sect/nation are peaceful rational people who most of us would have little trouble being friends with.

Not a killing, but some people in Turkey who attended a listening party for Radiohead's new album, A Moon Shaped Pool, were attacked by a gang of men who disapproved of the event being held during Ramadan. The news was shared via the Radiohead subreddit, where poster Rawkon reports that a gang of about 20 men “[beat] up the shop owner, manhandled the visitors, and vandalized the store” at Velvet Indieground in Istanbul at about 9 p.m. local time. Rawkon says the attack was motivated by anger over people drinking beer at the listening party.

Another poster replied (in the top rated-comment):

i was one of the hosts. i am the person that's speaking in that video. i am the owner of that periscope account. they were determined to kill us. we were beaten by more than 20 men with pipes in their hands, beer bottles were broken on our heads, i don't even know how we made it out. i will share the details later guys. just hoping that noone will die

A video of the attack was posted:

Survivors of the attack are also posting their accounts—including some graphic pictures of their injuries—to the Facebook event page for the listening party.

Radiohead itself has responded to the incident, stating

Our hearts go out to those attacked tonight at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul. We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past. For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support.

More than 20 men just to beat them up? That is the most cowardly thing I've ever heard of anyone do, ganging up on them like that. How fucking insensitive and low can you be to bring an entire group of people to beat up those who want to play and distribute music as well as destroying their equipment? I also noticed that this took place at night, after fasting hours which usually commence at early morning, which means that this attack is absolutely inexcusable. Also, if they were motivated by drinking, doesn't the country fucking allow alcohol consumption in the first place? What a bunch of dumbasses...

Nice to know that Allah, or at least their version of him, is this guy:

@Ntwadumela, you genuinely seem like a nice fella, so I have to ask:

Literally half of your posts are here 'Oh man, that sucks I'm sorry those other muslims did that its disgusting and does not represent us'. Assuming you genuinely feel like that, and you've been paying attention to the news in the last, uh, 1300 years but let's even just go back to 9/11...

Is there a point where you kind of just go ahead and think 'Damn why are so many Muslims acting like shithead in the name of Islam? Maybe the problem is within Islam itself?'

Because I mean how many times can you say #NotAllMuslims before you start considering that maybe the common uniting factor between all of these things might be Islam itself? You seem like a decent human being, so why continue associating yourself with a movement that creates everything Islam is creating around the world?

Thanks for asking me this. Whatever I believe in is up to me to decide, just as you have the right to believe in what you want. My late father, and his father and his grandfather and his great grandfather were Muslims and were genuinely good people who treated everyone with respect, even those who weren't Muslim. I am not blind to the strife that Islamic Terrorists are causing to this world, and you know damn well I don't support them. Where you grew up abroad and developed a bad taste for Islam, I grew up in an area with positive experiences of my religion.
Although shit happens in the world, it is those with integrity and strength in their hearts who continue to be themselves despite such obstacles. I will not back down because shitheads are ruining my religion. Whatever happens, reality will hit these people in the face and all of this will cease to continue, if not today, than in the future, as optimistic as it sounds. I won't repeat myself on my country's stance on extremism as I have mentioned many times before. After all, nothing is permanent. I understand you feel this way, but one's feelings vary depending on his/her experiences. I however will continue to believe in what I want, and many people here including myself will set an example for others. There is no community/belief/nation/race with a squeaky-clean history. There are many people like myself who are Muslims and genuinely good people, you just need to find the diamonds within the rubble.

Since you know about the subject, could you please write a very short description of the main islamic sects and their differences from your own personal perspective? I'm looking for a more "hands on experience" than some dry wikipedia collection.

Maybe there is some ideological difference that makes the Wahabbi ones this trigger happy?
From what I understand Wahhabi is pretty much Islams equavelent of primordial Baptists or Dominionists or any of the other really batshit brands of Christianity. All the Abrahamic religions are pretty diverse, and you see a lot of the same kinds of crazy in the extremist brands of all of them since they're all derivatives of each other.

As a side on the subject of radical Islam groups that don't even allow music, that's something you also see with Pentecostals. I know quite a few people raised Pentecostal and shit is pretty ridiculous (though even they aren't as extreme as other weird offshoots of Christianity. Living in the Bible Belt means you see some shit).

Snopes says not quite.
http://www.snopes.com/three-syrian-refugees-assault-5-year-old-girl-at-knifepoint/

WHAT'S TRUE: Police are investigating a 2 June 2016 incident in Twin Falls, Idaho, involving a five-year-old girl and three boys aged seven, ten, and fourteen.

WHAT'S FALSE: The incident was not a rape, the girl was not murdered, the boys were not Syrian, there's no indication a knife was involved; and no "language barrier" prevented police from detaining two boys involved.
