If by "unique" he means one of the most hated people in the last hundred years who also happened to rape their mother and become even more infamous (and hated), then yes I guess he's unique.
 
I just discovered the letter that Bob left for Chris. It hurts to see how much of his father's legacy Chris has tarnished and raped. Bob really loved his son, only for his mentally ill and oh-so sick son to defile that love in the most perverse way imaginable.

Yeah I've read it a couple times too it's pretty sad.

He does go on and on about all his achievements though, so like father like son I suppose.

Bob loved Chris and had high hopes for him, but hope is not a plan, and Bob did very little to help Chris succeed. Never forget that his reaction to "Your son has special needs and requires specialized education" was "NOPE! Gonna hide it instead and pretend he's normal!"

He said some wonderful things in that letter, but he said some stupid stuff as well -- like all the "Take care of all my crap" paragraphs. By that point, he should have recognized that Chris was incapable of appreciating and even understanding all of his interests, but he just couldn't comprehend that possibility.

Bob is a complicated figure in Christory. I do feel bad for him at times for what he had to endure, but I also recognize that he is very much responsible for the way that Chris turned out through his pride and stubbornness

Bob was a simple man from another era and it's pretty dumb to expect him to have the same analytical eye that younger, internet savvy people have, people that could google up and understand more about autism and trolling than Bob could grasp living his whole life

I don't know what being "internet savvy" has to do with it.

I don't expect Bob to be an expert in developmental psychology; that's not what he was trained to do. No one has to do it all on their own -- that's why experts and specialists exist.
What I DO expect is for Bob to work with those experts to do what is best for his son. He didn't do that. He ignored the experts. In fact, he did worse than ignoring them -- he fought them. When school officials rightly recommended that Chris attend a special school for his mental development needs, Bob moved the family to prevent Chris from getting the mental healthcare that he needed.

Imagine if it had been Chris' physical health rather than his mental health in peril -- say Chris had pneumonia but Bob refused to take him to the doctor either out of some sense of embarrassment or the feeling that he knew better than they did. It would rightly be seen as child abuse. The same should be true for his mental health.

Bob was a very intelligent and accomplished man. I'm sure it was a big blow to him to find out that he had a 'tard son. But his strategy of hiding Chris' condition did him no favors and almost certainly made things much worse.

Bob generally gets a fair amount of grace from Christorians because he was a sweet old man and not nearly as bad as Barb, but he did not do his best while raising Chris.

Yeah it was pretty disconcerting to see this message back in the day with no internet (at least for me in the gen 1 and 2 years) and no guides mentioning wtf that was.

Chris is as always wrong and pokerus is not something that gives pokemon a "endurance boost" if they survive it. It's completely benign and simply makes training stats 2x faster, it doesn't give them additional stat points. And it won't give them defence or HP points if they're training against monsters that only give attack or speed points once defeated.
 
Has anybody here actually read through all of sonichu? I did not realize that Chris went back to making them and knowing what I know now about him, it makes reading through them all the more terrifying.
