This has me wondering, Marvin says Chris is talking to trolls pretending to be Rosechu and Sonichu or whatever and is believing it because crazy.
Yeah, based on his demeanor as he's reacted to these "revelations" about Rosechu having a dick, I believe he believes in this nonsense. Someone's probably feeding him information about Rosechu and this information is distressing him.
However, normally when someone tries to tell him shit he doesn't like, he'll just overrule them. "Chris, I'm rosechu and I have a penis!" "hmm, yeh, no, I have a psychic connection* with Rosechu and she says no" - how he'd normally react.
* Autism for "childish imagination"
That Chris is accepting this information and announcing it to the public, and as he's doing so, he's very cranky, that leads me to believe he actually believes this to some degree.
We're in fascinating (and franky, scary) new territory.
Would he believe in someone who says they are the cwcville version of him? or would that finally clue him in that he's being played?
It's not about how shocking or ridiculous the claims are.
Like, Chris naturally doesn't have very good powers of discernment. But he does have some. He does get suspicious when things get a little too wild. But for years, trolls have slapped Chris' hand every time he even tried to exercise that discernment. We taught him that trying to distinguish things based on a spectrum of ridiculousness, and responding with an appropriate level of critique, was a losing game. It really made Chris worse. We trained Chris to not trust his (admittedly, poorer than average) instincts, because "fuck you for trying to evade our trolling, Chris".
So Chris switched tactics. Chris then decided that he'd put up a really strong defense, but once you penetrate that defense, he'll trust you 100%. Additionally, he farmed off vetting of suspicious content to friends he trusted. We also fucked with that system.
So yeah, if you penetrate his initial defenses, at this point, Chris will believe literally anything, including that he's talking to an alternate reality version of himself.
