It could be argued that Emperor Norton was an example of what would be seen as Lowcow culture.
Emperor Norton was no lolcow. He lived his life as what we today would call political satire performance art, making a mockery of (and setting an example for) the politics of the day (both in America and abroad). The people of San Francisco were not laughing at him; they were laughing at government with him (particularly congress, because fuck those guys). On top of this, he was an absolutely moral and ethical man, believing implicitly in the fundamental equality of all mankind, decrying violence (especially political and religious violence), and defending the absolute rights of the individual.
Chris is a selfish asshole. He is a lolcow.
Joshua A. Norton was selfless. He WAS the Emperor of the United States. We could not have asked for a better one.
He had all sorts of crazy pronouncements printed in the local papers though.
After a century's hindsight, they weren't that crazy at all. If anything the man was prescient.
The really weird stuff was made up by the papers themselves. The media then were just as corrupt and dishonest as they are today.
I am not being facetious, if a person takes a knife to a public place like a bar or restaurant, then attacks a stranger, it’s not the fault of the venue?
A con is definitely NOT a public space. They charge admission, and the organizers hold discretion over who can and cannot attend. As such, if someone they permit into the con causes trouble or harms someone, especially with a weapon they allowed, they are responsible along with the offender (and they have MUCH deeper pockets than Chris).
Many cons I have been too have had items which would make improvised weapons, on sale, within the reach of the public.
Because the people who organize cons are often as autistic as the attendees.
a bat is still a piece of sports equipment.
When it's used to hit a ball, it's sports equipment. When it's used by Chris to hit a "toxic", it's a deadly weapon.
I strongly advise to wear a helmet if you ever want to bike anywhere, even at a reasonable pace.
Helmet laws suck. Not wearing a helmet is stupid. People have a right to be stupid. Let natural selection; do its job.
I prefer not denting my skull on a rock
Fucking magpies. Enough said.
