Certainly it's open to interpretation, but I feel like Megan wasn't just using Chris. They shared some interests, and she seemed to genuinely enjoy playing games with him. That combined with her just being kind to the local 'tard was the foundation of their friendship.

Maybe I'm just too cynical. I can barely see anyone, let-alone a reasonably attractive woman hanging around Chris without incentive. Chris could barely handle cardgames with children without sperging out. Perhaps it was part pity, and part using him as her ebay paypig? This was in a time before Visa-enabled debit cards were a thing, and I don't think Megan had a job so she probably wouldn't be able to get a traditional credit card. I don't think she was in college either so she wouldn't have been able to get one of those 500$ limit student credit cards some banks do.

She liked the same silly games he did, and I have to assume that you gotta put up with a lot of weirdos if those sorts of things are you jam.

And I suppose there are different types of "friendship". I don't think there's any reports that she ever visited 14BLC or they ever hung out anywhere but the Game Place, so they were more like the nerdy game shop equivalent of "work friends".

I suppose if they were hanging out at the same hobby shop, she probably figured it was easier to just be friendly to civil with Chris until he started being super creepy and making porn of her. I don't blame Megan in the least for cutting him loose, and if I was her, I would have washed my hands of him when he started getting touchy-feely.
Megan did never go to Chris' folks' place. I wonder if she just didn't have the time, or she was worried he might try to rape her?

I never bought her whole asexual thing either. It was probably just a poly to try and get Chris to stop flirting with and touching her.
Chris always had a habit of getting handsy with his galpals. Megan, the girl who got stolen by the guy in the pickle suit complained he kept trying to touch and tried to kiss her. (Emily?) I'm pretty sure he tried to get handsy with Casey too, but she might have shut him down after Chris said she was fatter than he expected.

Thankfully, most of them only seemed to hang out with him at school. The school probably had rules against touching and PDA and I don't think Chris started getting suspended / expelled until he hit college, but it's hard to say. He might have got a pass for being a tard.

I may have misconstrued or misremembered old Megan emails when she said she didn't have any romantic feelings, have the need for affection or the desire to date. Could have sworn she came out and said it directly, or hinted at it, hoping Chris would pick up on it.

Do they even remember it? And how much do they still know? How often and how long do they think about it? How do they judge the various actors, factors and events involved, and the magnitude of their own actions? Are they even aware of Chris' celebrity status online? And how important are those memories for them now? Did it shape their biography and identity?

I hear the advice that's being doled out to kids these days that they should do their first few years of post-secondary education at a community college and then transfer to a real university later to save money. But I can't help thinking about Chris' time there soliciting sex and getting thrown out of his classes. Is he an anomaly and most community college students are just working hard to make the most of their educational opportunities? Or are those places filled with retards constantly letting out "exclamations you'd likely hear from a black person in church"?

A lot of community colleges care about if the student pays or not, first and foremost. If they're a moderate annoyance, things will be slided. With Chris, it was obvious he was mentally challenged, but Barb kept making the payments, so PVCC was more than happy to keep him around. Chris's courses would have taken a normal student 2 years to complete, but it took Chris five years. And that's counting the year long suspension.

Community colleges are generally lower down on the totem pole as far as colleges go. The push these days to get kids to go into those first is that kids today just don't have the post high school skills. I hear even working a PC is difficult for them, thus needing to go a basically throw away school for "practice".

With Chris however, even community college was a stretch for him to succeed at, and it took twice as long, so maybe twice as much, with his parents doing his homework, and Chris barely squeaking by. A lot of students like Chris would have long left the college after their first big fuck up, but Chris stayed the course, and PVCC got paid.
