Considering the type of person who would shops at Spencer's, I think he'd fit right in.
Well, in fairness, the people who shop at Spencer's seem to be mall rats, stoners, vaguely unemployed 20-somethings and wanna-be frat boys... so at least they have better social skills than Chris. I mean, they may be obnoxious as hell, but they can still hang out with their own kind, get dumb ass tribal tattoos, and go "bro," or something.
Chris wouldn't say no if someone bought him some of that stuff. But I don't think he'd spend the cash on it, when he can get ten pairs of his mom jeans from goodwill for the same price and have some extra cash left over for a few

s.
So... what you're saying is we should buy Chris a new wardrobe? I mean, granted its about on par with the Brazilian government painting the
favelas bright colours for the tourists, but at least it will make him more presentable. Or less of an eyesore. Honestly, I'd spend the money on that before I'd buy him Legos (though in truth I'd just as soon keep my money and spend it on myself

).
See, I was asking the same thing.
It is weird, even for Chris, no?
Also, haha, I love "shaved orangutan."
As do I!
I think it was probably just that Harry Potter started getting popular with the kids in general. Everywhere Chris turned, everyone was talking about Harry Potter, not his beloved Sonic. Star Wars is an older series, so it didn't just pop up at him.
Well, I know we've already said Chris is inconsistent, but I'm pretty sure the Sonic fad was on the way out by then. Granted, they still make games and merchandise (I saw a little kid in a Sonic shirt yesterday in fact) but I'm pretty sure that it was past the height of its popularity by the time Harry Potter came out. Moreover, Chris tends to like obscure stuff. I'm sure
nobody else in his class ever expressed an interest in the American Rabbit, but that doesn't seem to be an issue. I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make here... just weird.
I do think its funny that he was so anti-Potter though. I mean, I know, his weird tribalism and all, but if he actually got into the fandom, there's all sorts of merchandise he could have latched onto to express his identity. I could easily see him wearing a Gryffondor scarf or something. Of course, on the other hand, Chris does seem to have an aversion to books so perhaps that scared him off (and yes, I'm only being half serious here, not

).
There were the old Droids and Ewoks series back in the day and the legendary Holiday Special has an animated bit
Yeah, that was my first thought, and I can remember SyFy Channel airing both Droids and Ewoks waaay back in the day. Before they rebranded themselves SyFy, in fact, and when they still played sci-fi movies instead of wrestling and Sharknado part 15... Anyway, I doubt Chris would have watched those but I suppose its possible. The infamous Holiday Special not so much. Hell, I can remember growing up wanting to see it so bad, even searching around the net for it back in the early days of Compuserve and AOL. Needless to say, I was very disappointed when I finally did find a badly ripped copy..
In the modern era there's been two The Clone Wars series, a 2d animated one by that guy who made Samurai Jack and a CG one that ran for a while.
That I didn't think of, probably because I didn't watch those (didn't even know there was a traditionally animated one by the guy who made Samurai Jack! I just know of the existence of the CG one. Kind of curious to see the other one now, if only because I liked Samurai Jack back in the day). I could definitely see Chris watching Cartoon Network (in fact, we KNOW he watches Family Guy and stuff, right?), and it probably would appeal to him.
Obviously this is all very important and without this knowledge this conversation would be worthless.
Obviously.
