Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

I don't think he was ever going to live anything approaching a normal life, Barb would have made sure of that, but his exposure to the internet absolutely destroyed him and altered his path from being the local oddball to a global village idiot.

I'm more interested in what we would have got if trolls in the early days had reigned it in and we'd been allowed to observe his growth into a cow naturally.

Chris was born into a generational paradox, with his father instilling antiquated and well-worn ideals into him, and modern society challenging his suppositions at every step of the way.

Regardless of the internet, or relationships, Chris would have always had a hard time adapting to the current time. I'd like to think things could have been a lot worse, if it wasn't for folks like Null and others here, but it could have been a mess of a lot better if things were different.

We all have our crosses to bear.

short answer: no

long answer: Chris was doomed when he was conceived, imo. His mother was a narcissistic liar who abused (allegedly) her previous son and his father was a retired engineer who would let him do whatever he wants, so long as it didn't land him in trouble. Even if through some miracle he was born normal, he would still be a neet since his parents would not give him an incentive to move out and etch out a living for himself.

The gender thing is a good example of Chris being at the mercy of the world he lives in. He absorbs popular culture without the capacity for critical thought. You’ll notice he’ll emulate people’s speaking styles in conversation, attempting Ebonics in conversation with a black person for example.

Sometimes it feels like his language skills and vocabulary came primarily from cartoons and video games. He can not determine what is appropriate based on context, and emulates whatever influences he has taken on board, thinking the same thing will work for him.

I refuse to believe Chris would be trans in the absence of our prevailing cultural zeitgeist. It’s not an original line of thought, or something he felt instinctively, it was suggested to Chris and he ran with it. Just like how his childlike mind believed he could castrate himself by listening to binaural beats, absorbing without the capacity for critical thought.

In some respects Chris epitomizes the NPC archetype. Acting based on external stimulus, not out of any real conviction or insight.

The one exception to this might be Jacob Sockness, an individual so utterly repugnant it caused Chris himself to have doubts about meeting. I propose the Jakoba theory, that insanity can be minimized or curtailed by the introduction of a greater insanity.

I think with Jacob it's that Chris talks nonsense but when it comes to reality he isn't interested in dating a man or anyone born as one and age wise I don't think he's shown attraction to anyone in their 30s or older? Chris is happy playing make believe when it comes to himself but he holds everyone else to a different standard when it comes to real life.

But I agree with what you said, if being trans wasn't in vogue he'd just follow whatever was.

If he had decent parents he'd have been much better off. There's a lot of high-functioning autistic people who hold down careers, social lives and even families. Chris probably has more than just the autism, but there's people with far worse autism doing much better than he is.

Chris may be a special case (in every sense of the word), since there are some currently younger people who were born to older parents, and they're just fine.

I could swear that my dad used to own a shirt IDENTICAL to the classic (same colors and pattern). Anybody knows what brand and model it is?
