Hell, it's been sick since the original classic movie (arguably it's been sick since the Ed Gein case that inspired the whole thing but let's not get too far into this rabbit hole). The whole point was that Norman was so unhealthily obsessed with his mother it drove him to murder her and her lover in a jealous rage, and then attempt to BECOME her while keeping her corpse at hand.

Alfred Hitchcock did not die for this.

(Seriously though, I can get some people being into incredibly fucked up ships/stories for the sake of character dynamics and storytelling. Portraying an incestuous, murderous, psychotically codependent relationship as some kind of "kawaii uwu" shit, though...jesus, it's the Hannibal fandom all over again.)

Unlike gay people, a lot of people don't think asexuals even exist enough to bother oppressing them, and their oppression ends up being a by-product of other prejudices. Asexuals in the first world mostly seem to have to deal with "microaggressions" more than anything else, at least in regards to problems unique to them. Most of their other problems have huge overlaps with sexism, homophobia and perceived mental illness.

But, you know, everybody wants to be a victim.

I actually don't understand the last response at all. I agree with it, but no where did the striders person say incest was okay as a "coping mechanism." I checked their blog as well and they don't seem to subscribe to this way of thinking either.

So uh, good point, wrong place.

In fact, in some circles it's even more encouraged to not have sex: eg: religious circles, or family/teachers that are all "it's better for you to be single/not have sex so you can focus on your studies/your career better". Even psychologists/self-help recommend people who are very stressed or depressed about something to be single for a time so relationship drama doesn't distress them further. (or to properly heal from a previous bad relationship)

So yeah, asexies are full of shit.

Its really just "I wanna be special" though to be fair I think demisexuals are worse than asexuals.

Most people on Tumblr say that "problematic" ships (incest, pedophillia or large age gap, ect.) are okay only when someone uses them to cope (I have no idea how one would use them to cope but whatever). I guess they just assumed.
