I'm trying to figure out how the fuck icons or a URL of an animated show/movie are life threatening to someone like this. Are they afraid that if they see these on their dashboards, that the characters from them will break into their room and kick their ass?

Slightly off topic but there isn't really anywhere else to put it so I'm just going to post it here.

My gf and I went to the aquarium last week and ended up coming to the conclusion that the reason so many Tumblr genderspecial multiple system fictionkin end up dyeing their hair a rainbow of colors is exactly the same as why poisonous frogs have bright colors: nature's way of saying "this is toxic, stay the fuck away".
Hey, I've been dyeing my hair bizarre colors since I was twelve and I like to think I'm relatively non-awful. :(

Meanwhile, I found a fictive of one of my all-time favorite characters and I want to just weep. Especially since the character in question is a creepy homicidal asshole with some really serious mental issues--she's almost an archetypal yandere, but without the "sweet outside" portion. And this person claims to be her.

Tumblr user [REDACTED], somewhere out there in Fictionland, the actual Damara Megido would be screaming about this shit. (If she existed. Which she doesn't.)

Here are some choice things from their blog.

As a bonus, their blog is really tricky to navigate in a lot of places. (Why is it that for all Tumblrinas bitch about accessibility, so many of them have really difficult-to-navigate themes?)

or if they read an URL related to said show they would haunt them, like Bloody Mary
The horror, the trauma

I spent my entire afternoon working RTL parsing code so that Arabic writers are more comfortable in the environment I'm developing for. I am extremely talented at getting code to work on old browsers (down to IE6) and have an intense interest in accessibility. I have a plugin installed on my browser that renders down colors based on certain types of colorblindness so that I can consciously pick colors based on what's easier for people to see. I've also studied screen readers and know enough about Aria to get started on making websites work for people who cannot see.

In short, I love accessibility and believe in an Internet for even the disabled.

Meanwhile, Tumblr at the forefront of everything social-justice, uses themes so fucking obtuse that a fully sighted person cannot fucking use them.

It really is kind of hilariously ironic.

I mean...I personally adore the whole pixel aesthetic thing, but I also try to keep my blog's font at a reasonable size. I make the navigation parts of my layout easily accessible and I make sure the colors contrast enough to be legible without being clashy. (In fact, I just now realized that the color I use for links is a bit hard to read--thanks for your post, it prompted me to fix that.)

I don't personally complain much about accessibility, because my eyesight is fine with glasses and I'm not so brain-fucked as to be unable to navigate anything, but I do think it's important for my blog to be legible and easy to navigate. Same with all websites. The internet should be accessible to everyone, if you ask me.

And yet you have people who complain that basically everything is ableist, and yet they refuse to make their blogs legible, even to people who, like you said, have perfect goddamn vision and no other issues.

There are still a few blogs that describe photographs in text for web readers, but I see less and less of them that aren't solely focused on politics.

I actually never understood the reasoning for that practice. Would you mind explaining?

Totally didn't happen but it's a great way to get complaints filed against you because you're pushing your agenda at work when all this tired woman wants is for you to give her the fucking car so she can go home to her kid.
There's that tumblr self-awareness:
"Surely people will carefully consider the social commentary of someone wearing a paper hat."

I would be okay with this if OP was talking about people who have overcome eating disorders, drug addiction, or something else that could fuck your teeth up. Too bad they are just talking about lazy cunts who use their "disability" as an excuse to be gross.

Couldn't OP just say "you mean the Hot Wheels toy" (if this actually happened)? Sounds like OP doesn't really need a job if she's going to act like a shit stain at work.

No, they need to draw out their bullshit so that the woman can 'learn' that there is no such thing as toys for boys and girls. Lord knows I would never hire someone who doesn't shut up and do their job.

Okay I work in a service industry and therefore keep company with other people in service industries, many of which are fast food, and I can tell you that 99% of drive-thru places grade their employees on the drive-thru wait time. God forbid this wasn't comedic hyperbole and this person actually has this conversation with every parent who says boy/girl toy, because they are going to fuck the times up for all their coworkers.

Kids are pretty good about making it clear what they like. Regardless of their gender, the parent is going to know if they'd prefer a doll or a car. They'll let you know. In this modern day where you can ask for one toy or another, the kid has probably already requested he wants the car. The parent is just trying to speed things along by rolling with an assumption. Her son wants the car. He wants the predesignated 'boy' toy. This is an easy one. Why are you holding us up.
