Infected RationalWiki - Whiny hugbox for spergs and a clusterfuck of neverending drama on a rapidly declining website.

RationalWiki seems to be quite good at deconstructing bullshit like conspiracy theories, new age woo, quackery, pseudoscience and the like. Their articles about scientific topics like astronomy, geography or history also deconstruct some myths and false beliefs. Unfortunately, it's totally irrational and sometimes very "SJW" when it comes to political and societal topics or especially, religion. Often, it is very biased and doesn't represent a neutral point of view which is essential for a good encyclopedia.

Just look at their page about "non-binary (read: made-up) genders".

It's one of the reasons I initially posted there.

Then they drank the IDPOL koolaid, emptied the pitcher, decided that wasn't enough, went back for a fifty-five gallon drum, and still think draining THAT isn't enough.

If they had remained a place for calling out quacks who selling drinking bleach as cancer cures and and outing scammers, I'd love that, but they've become the very thing they used to despise, and now they are on the receiving end of their own shit, a fact they now want to deny despite being to Conservapedia what we are to internet morons being one of their founding raison d'etre's

I fear making up all these specific labels are just going to reinforce gender stereotypes, and only alienate people from one another, which I think is the opposite goal people are trying to achieve?
Perhaps just come up with one particular term that means, "I don't really feel that I fit into any particulary, so I'll just call myself X." Because the more terms you come up with, the less meanings these words have.
An insightful thing someone once pointed out (I forget who) is that the people who are into "obscure" genders and orientations are confusing gender with personality. I agree with that, and I'd add that they're looking for some cheap validation. Like, it's not enough to say "Sometimes I like taking it up the ass from a stranger in a fursuit", they have to say "I'm a gray demi-aromantic homofursexual genderqueer"... and then demand that this gets carved on the armrest of God's throne right next to "Male" and "Female" with equal billing.

This is true, but the vast majority of this stuff is a slam-dunk. An eighth-grader who didn't sleep through science class should be able to tell you that homeopathy is bullshit and why. The only people who believe this stuff are very stupid and/or extremely motivated to believe.

If I have to pick between antivaxxers, flat earthers, and trannies, the antivaxxers and science deniers win every time.

Concur. This point has been made in other places, but it's worth reiterating here: most fundie stupidity is quite harmless in practical terms, while the fashionable stupidity of SJWs- especially troons- has very bad real-life consequences. While the former may deviate more from observable reality, it's the latter that has people mutilating themselves.

I know we're all being edgy about muh SJWs but it's a good idea to remember that antivaxxers are literally spreading diseases and have a death toll. A lot of the alt medicine fads RationalWiki covered back in the day were far from harmless. It really makes the shift to political sperging that much more stupid, since you'd think watching people kill themselves and everyone close to them would make trannies being misgendered online seem like small potatoes.

Quite true.

Which only makes it more ridiculous and disturbing the same people who say to not believe some idiot who advocates drinking bleach should also be extremely skeptical and dismissive of some idiot claiming women have penises.

I recently read their article on Riley Dennis. It’s as fawning and one-sided as you’d expect but this part in particular about the infamous trans-exclusionary dating video caught my eye:

Yup, the first of those quotes is totally different from the second one. It’s not at all like we’ve just added more words so it looks like they’re saying different things, but the overall message is the same.

Fail.

The thing is, if you have zero interest in trannies, you should just say no. To deliberately give trannies false hope, under the pretext that nobody should feel "excluded", is to waste everybody's time. Ditto for what Wikipedia deems "sexual racism": if you are only interested in white people, just say so upfront and damn political correctness.

The sad irony being, since many anti-vaxxers (almost every one I've ever dealt with, but I hesitate to extrapolate that out to "most") are themselves actually vaccinated, by their parents ages ago, they're not risking themselves for their stupidity. Just other people. Mostly children.

So, they used to have an article on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that was about what you’d expect it to be. They were slobbering all over her dick, being apologists over her many gaffes, categorized her under “left of reason,” and even unironically referred to her as the “Chad” to Ben Shapiro’s “Virgin.”

The article is gone now.

I’m sure there’s some long-winded discussion as to why that is, but I prefer to take the Occam’s Razor approach, and say that after she won, she really went full r.etard, and they just swept everything under the rug because that’d be easier than defending her at this point.

Much more boring than that unfortunately.

Apologies if late or necro, but lately I've noticed RationalWiki results showing up near the top of Google searches.

Shouldn't be surprised if it's a deliberate move by Google.

Been that way for a few years unless the problem's gotten even worse. A lot of topics will give you the Wikipedia page first and the RatWiki page in the next 1-5 results.
