To be fair genderbent is harmless compared to what other shit people can be into. Though i do agree, if she somehow "bends" them in the wrong way she could trigger a Tumblr temper tantrum, just look at what Steven Universe timblrlords did to one artist for drawing a character as SKINNY

Ah, you'd be surprised by the kinds of people that get work in animation. The number of people I personally know that are terrible to work with, and absolutely terrible web presence on sites like Twitter and Tumblr are astounding, and they still manage to get work at major studios. Despite what I said in several of my other posts, having a horrendous attitude isn't going to guarantee they will not get hired. Black lists in the animation industry are fickle and enigmatic.

i'm gonna go lay down now, there are some good works that she's only posted sneak peaks of, and others that are okay. The farther i looked back, the more i started to like her stuff, but when she tries to do ""orginal style uwu!!!" it kills her work.

I am not one to get angry at others work very often, but looking at this frustrates me. I whole heartedly hoped that Rory would somehow get on the right track with their work and become a more solid draftsman and artist like most people do after their first year. CalArts crushes your ego. It frustrates you. And yet, Rory seems to be taking very little initiative to go outside of their comfort zone and try something new and challenging, rather than repeating the same unappealing design choices. It is disappointing, but not surprising considering their attitude.

I have no idea if Rory reads these threads. Part of me hopes they do, part of me hopes they don't (for the sake of my own anonymity, despite my only identity being that of an "upperclassman"), but if they do, I hope my comments as a classmate with more experience are seen because it is frustrating. It is frustrating seeing someone waste their time and potential by being an egomaniac on the internet.

Please forgive me for the lengthy post. I have not posted in a while and am quite behind on this thread, and Rory is absolutely frustrating.

Say what you will about them, at the very least, their art-style is unique to them, and they manage to stay on model and you can recognize characters. Rory's style isn't even her own, and even if it is by now (somehow), it's uglier and more eye-raping than the Klasky Csupo shows.

That's true, at least klasky Csupo didn't suffer same face syndrome and they had subtle varieties in design. Everyone in Rory's art is either fat, skinny or buff.

Rory might think they can use that word because they're nonbinary. I don't know the big deal behind it, but since they've made such a huge deal about it before with their cap..
 
Tumblr flips its collective shit over the idea of genderbending and genderswapping. I've seen people refer to it as "cis-swap" for chrissakes. Tumblr is so far up its own ass it's back out the eye sockets.

Back to rory though, her style could definitely work if she had a fundamental understanding of anatomy and basic shape layout. The faces she draws are just... discomforting.

(I have to concede that the drawing of... I think it's Sugilite? whatever that fusion is that's voiced by Nicki Minaj? looks pretty badass though.)
