Ok, I was about to write a shitpost but I'm actually intrigued.
Rory can't do a walk cycle to save her life, is inconsistent, her work is not clean at all, her animation isn't even fluid and she can't design an appealing character.
Basically, she shits over most of the basic principles of animation.
How exactly does she have technical value hiding behind that, aside of being a a hipster?
We've already established in this thread that rory has a good grasp of art, as shown by her art circa 2014, she has a good handle on realism and she can do a modernist cartoony style very well.
I'd liken her to Picasso, an artist who has an incredible amount of skill in realism, but purposefully abandons it to draw in an abstract style that isn't necessarily easy to look at, but still has a lot of purpose and shape behind it. Her drawings have very good outlinings and are immediatly recognizeable. Just because they don't look nice and pretty doesn't mean that they're bad, hell I'd argue that she's great in successfully creating a style thats easy to imitate at first glance but still one that requires a lot of thought to create from scratch.
My, aren't you making a lot of assumptions. What basis do you have that Farmers are all upper-middle class white people, or that none of us are professional artists? Talk about projection.
Western animation, especially maimstream children's animation, needs broad appeal. They're not looking for "underrepresented influences"; they're looking to make things that impresses both families and critics enough to turn a profit.
I don't know who you work for, but companies look yours letting a bunch of Rories in the door is why Western animation is on the decline. We don't need more "unique", we have plenty of that. What we're lacking is skill and competence.

My evidence is that I've been a member of this community longer than almost everyone left on this board, check my sign up date, and that's not even including the xenforo days, back when this used to be specifically a chris trolling forum. I know the demographics of this place, and if kiwi's are trying to convince me that people are poor on here, they're doing a dogshite job of it. I've seen some great artists post on here, but tbf those are the minority. Especially a lot of the Tumblr migrants, who criticise artists like rory while being just as bad if not worse. Some criticism is due to rory I heavily agree, but a lot of you people have a vendetta against her for being accepted into a prestigeous art school. Look at about 80% of the posts here, they're some form of "She got into calarts? what the fuck they're just accepting anyone" and thats a gross oversimplification.
I'd also like to argue that we need more variety in our animation. Broad appeal got us the Saturday morning cartoons of the 80's, something only sexist internet men tend to like. They're making a profit experimenting, and we're seeing this with shows like Steven's Universe and Bravest Warrior.
"western animation is on a decline" as opposed to what? the cartoons of your childhood? I don't mean to seem rude, but you're looking back on cartoons with rose tinted glasses. Animation isn't on a decline, hell we're hitting a rennassciance of new and engaging animation, and also now that the barrier of entry has severely dropped we can see more and more people giving animation their own special tint. Skill is also a meme, there is no way to judge skill except by subjective standards and holding the individual up to other outdated artists.
Ok but their work ALSO alienates the people they're supposedly representing, even more so than "outsider groups". Trust me, underrepresented groups don't want them representing us because it's horribly offensive and demeaning. And they're a cunt. -Sincerely a person from a lower class family
I don't see how taking influence from lower class artists alienates anyone. That's literally how culture and society adapts. Feigning outrage at an outside source only draws attention to their work, so if your objective was to stop their artwork from being created and spread you're doing pretty much the opposite.
Some of the greatest artists of all time are cunts, fuck look at Lou Reed, that guy was the definition of a dick.
LARPing as a poor person doesn't make your point suddenly valid. If you actually are poor then i apologize in advance but I've been in arguments with people who think their families are poor even though they make above 50,000 annually and can afford everything necessary for survival.
