I feel Twitter was less forgiving because their artists don’t do Rorysm, they tend to draw in more appealing and adorable styles. Rory’s style is the evolution of a tumblr exclusive trend where making everyone trans, gay, fat, not white, hairy, ugly and grotesque is “good diversity”.
Had they stayed in tumblr, the backlash would be more bearable than what Twitter brought.

As for coming back, OwlyGem has the advantage her real life identity wasn’t spread across the net. Rory Cummings achieved meme status among art communities due to her arrogance and association with Calarts.
In other words, Rory’s reputation is fucked and I have no idea how she’s gonna get out of this one lol.

Gemma also had the benefit of most of her drama happening before widespread social media/web 2.0. Nowadays most people online don't know about her old drama because it's really only archived on ED, there weren't callouts and the like spreading like wildfire overnight on places like Twitter of Tumblr.

That scene where Strawberry tackles the other wrestler into the ground is so smooth(looks like they fell in a straight line, not what tackling looks like , and when they fall, it's like they fell into a void. I can't watch it with audio right now so maybe sound effects cover that, but there should still be a visual representation of them hitting the ground. The animation is so choppy, you'd expect there to be some extra details to compensate.

I know I'm a bit :late: but I'm glad the thread finally got going when the animation appeared.

I guess this disproves the theory of Rory taking anything seriously. Originally I figured she was just too misguided and egotistical to realize that she wasn't doing her best, but seeing this proves to me, at least, that she knows that she's wasting her damn time and that's just awful. What a fucking waste of her parents time and money. Imagine sending your kid to art school because you see if they apply themselves they can be great only to see them screw themselves over. And before you realize it, you're in so much debt that it's too late to help them and do anything about it. Rory is screwed if she doesn't change.

It's been said countless times in her thread, but so many people would kill for the opportunity she has so to see her waste it is just so frustrating. Usually, we see lolcows after their huge major fuckups, but Rory is right in the middle of hers and it's just frustrating (yet a bit entertaining) to watch. It's just an incoming trainwreck at this point.

If that animation shows anything, it's that Rory refuses to learn anything whatsoever and will continue to until it's too late.

I felt like I was watching a gif, not an animation project. The story telling is awful and what you can make out of it is that this female wrestler used a man for money and then found herself hating being tied to him, so she ditched him after stealing some of his money.

I watched it with sound off so I’m only going off of visuals, but like, jeez. Whatever she was trying to accomplish, she did not, beyond just making an animation.

Also who the fuck has a car with pedals like that? It’s like when you’re a kid and you draw a car like a box with big wheel wells and a boxy body with those quarter circle tail and headlights because you’re just drawing your idea of a car. Does Rory even drive?

hey guys i’m a regular lurker but i had to make a throwaway account for this

i’m a calarts first year and i was touring the off limits to the public parts of the animation department and found what i’m 99% sure is rory’s graffitti

one of the professors had a portrait she did of rory pinned up in her office (she did a lot of the chara ani kids) but i decided the risk of snapping a pic wasnt worth it- it would be pretty fucking pathetic if i ruined my calarts career over a lolcow. anyways, i’m gonna go back to lurking but if anything juicy pops up or if you guys have any questions abt the school in general i’ll probably still reply. i’ll keep my eyes peeled for rory this coming year- though i doubt i’ll see her- she seems pretty elusive from what i’ve heard.

That chick in Rory's video was a full on villain. There can be villain protagonists, but for Rory's character, nothing good can be said about her. The guy she stole money from was far more sympathetic.

After Thundercats Roar drama there was those (un)famous quotes from animators that you are out of industry after critisizing Roar show and being rude on social media.
While I agree quotes in exaple are very rude, I also think blacklisting somebody because that person (especially student) said something stupid on Twitter is too much.

But it reminded me about Rory and her absence. If so little is enough to be blackmailed from US animation industry is she already out?

Rory is infamous for racism and trans fetishism, so shes is probably blacklisted for the transgressions.

Animation studios may not want to hire Rory already because of her lousy work ethic, as demonstrated by the Strawberry animation and various other previous assignments. That she’s an antisocial self-congratulatory putz wouldn’t help, of course, but she has very little to offer professionally in the first place. They’d put her portfolio aside and look at more promising animators before they even get to consider her personality.
