For me, it's her trying to mask this as being *~progressive~*, when in reality she's just flicking her bean while drawing this creature she calls a "FTM Captain America" in tutus and bikinis (when in reality, wearing stuff like that would trigger bad gender dysphoria in a legitimate FTM. If she really cared about transgendered people, she wouldn't even do that kind of bullcrap). Cal Arts requires portfolios for character design applicants to have much more observational drawing than stylized drawing. They still ask for character designs though, and I guess it's possible she applied before her style got so weird?

It's entirely possible she had some of the exact same teachers Rebecca Sugar had, and picked up a lot of the same concepts of design. So she was taught in some fashion to think this was quality design.
... Of course Rebecca Sugar went on to make appealing looking, original designs. And this chick... Not so much. Lumps, tube, lumps.
