Supposedly, that was because him being huge was a racial/cultural stereotype of some kind. It really serves to illustrate just how unpleasable these tarts are. They tend to see fat characters as "diversity", but as with any form of diversity, it has to be handled more delicately than fine china; if said fat character is portrayed in any way other than perfect, there will be cries of "fatphobia."

To be fair, balding can be an issue for FtMs when they get on testosterone if baldness runs in the males of their families. Still though, it's shocking when I see an ugly/average/actually manly looking character headcanoned as trans vs a more feminine looking or conventionally attractive guy.
