Artcow rcdart / Rory Cummings-Dise - Tranny Fetishist who Torpedoed a Potential Animation Career

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: her figure studies piss me the fuck off. You’re supposed to suspend your stylization and draw what you see, not what you THINK you see. That’s like art 101. It’s why people use references to draw, because drawing from memory, while perfectly fine to do, does not tell you what something actually looks like. You can train yourself to know how something should be drawn, but it takes lots of practice (or a photographic memory, but learning how things like a body are built so you can pose it however you want and it’s still accurate is probably more useful), and if you decide to use that practice to instead continue to shit out art with your stylization smeared all over it, then you’re proving that you don’t really care how something is supposed to look, and rather how YOU want it to look.

And Rory doesn’t make an effort to really demonstrate that she understands what she’s seeing. Like the feet she draws, she just makes one line in it to represent it, or makes a blob and some vague sense of the toes. I understand that you don’t need to put tons of detail into your figure sketches, but you have to show that you understand why the foot is the way it is in that pose. You don’t just make a blob and say “well, that looks like a foot so it’s a foot now.”

I feel like I recall her saying on Rorpie that she was the biological child of one of her parents. One of her moms seems to look a lot like Rory when she draws her, but there's no way for us to be certain unless we find an old post talking about it. Or maybe see a picture of her parents, but that's straying too far into creepy territory for my taste.

I wouldn't be shocked honestly if she was a biological child of one of her moms. I've known a handful of lesbians with kids (usually just one), who decide it's usually just easier to get pregnant than to adopt and it usually creates a closer bond if it's theirs. And they just go fuck a rando dude no strings attached to get pregnant.

No fun allowed, ever.

Hi. I'm another cretin that decided to make an account after reading all 150+ pages of this hell thread.

Wanted to chime in to say that this is what I've been feeling every time some comments on how she's "got the basics down" or "great at realism". I don't think her self portraits are traced, but they're definitely copied from photographs - which, while having an understanding of anatomy/proportion/etc. helps, is mostly about being able to copy lines and shapes correctly. I'm yet to see a single 'realism' picture other than the self portraits in her portfolio that aren't FULL of awful anatomy and proportions.

(First post sorry if I've somehow fucked up formatting)

I definitely agree. Being able to copy a photograph doesn't necessarily mean you lack talent but is not nearly the same thing as being talented at drawing from imagination or loosly referencing a photo.

Which is what she does whether she draws realism or her shitty blobs. She's copying just what she sees from other people, style wise, theme wise and content wise. (Minus the awful Captain Transmerica - honestly don't know what level of hell that was inspired by)

I don't get where this thinking is coming from; besides them having an issue just to have one. "It's transphobic and gross art of trans men" the whole POINT is to make fun of someone who was already doing that in the first place. No one who's doing this or reblogging it is laughing at the expense of trans men. They should honestly be thankful this is a thing so that no one can end up like Rory. This meme is hilarious and a warning, which anyone with enough common sense would see that.
But since people are starting up the next step which is "wow you guys took it too far!! Leave x artist alone it's freedom of expression!" posts like these were bound to pop up sooner or later.

ill forever wonder if posts like this are genuine or simply a way to derail the negative discussion and jokes in the expense of something they secretly like by claiming the discussion is problematic

do they genuinely think satirizing a transphobe is transphobic, or do they secretly love Rory and want the discussion to die by any means necessary?

so op is trying to prevent negative backlash by stopping a meme where it's making fun of the terrible art, the terrible artist, and the combo of Rory's own prejudice/ignorance.

uhhh ok. stupid if true because no one can (or should) take that kinda style seriously.

Rory's most recent art of steve and tony show how absurd these kinda proportions can be on people, trans, or otherwise:

(blow up sex doll and jowly triangle man)
when in the past Rory has shown that when they put in the effort they can draw trans people:

Rory could have put more thought into anatomy -waist/scars/stretch marks- all shit they could have learned, but instead chose to ignore.
and then this:

w the caption "some steve. i love sexualizing men".

wow how anyone thought Rory was being genuine w their positive portrayal of trans people???? eh baffles me.

like that waist doesn't make sense, along w everything else. it's just an exaggerated form of garnet with some added stylization that makes the waist more offputting. a backward decision for Rory to make when people give garnet normal body ratio's when drawing her because it'd be dumb for her character to have a pringle can in place of her waist.

the transition to their first artwork of steve to the latest one on Rory's tumblr only took a year.

I'm surprised people are caring about the integrity of trans men by trying to stop this meme, lol.

Garnet from Steven Universe. The hips, the enormous thick thighs and non existent waist.

Can someone please tell Rory that Garnet is an alien who can get away with having strange proportions, while Captain America is supposed to be human?

Ironic, since it seems like most of the people joining in on the meme ARE trans men. It's kinda satisfying to see Rory trying so hard to appeal to an audience, only for that audience to say "Nah, we don't want your gross fetish fuel."

This is how you know she's focusing way too much on style. It hasn't "developed", she's literally forcing herself to draw differently because she thinks she's going to come up with some New And Interested style. Pretty sure I said this earlier in this thread, but an art style is just something that comes naturally based on your interests, inspirations, etc. Putting this much focus on having a unique style is what is making her work suffer.

She also doesn't seem to understand that animators don't actually draw in their regular style when they animate. The same can be said for most comic artists. When you're having to shit out content pretty quickly you develop a style that you can draw in with ease, and takes very little time and effort in comparison to your usual work. She is putting this style on a much higher pedestal than it should be. In all honesty, it looks like a bad Canadian cartoon.

Well then I guess trans men aren't allowed to have any fun, ever. [insert no fun allowed robot here]

That definitely goes to show she has no originality to speak of then.

Imo it's just another way for them to look "progressive"...The attitude is that by making parodies and joking about it it means you're not taking it seriously :story:
