Iirc, last year, the prank was overriding the display to be grayscale monochrome no matter what theme you used (which several kiwis loved because it gave a grim noire feel to the site). Some people immediately started using tampermonkey scripts to get around this, which annoyed Null and caused him to preemptively stop the April Fools joke, because he felt like they were opening themselves and their systems up for malicious code (especially for the tech illiterate). I don't remember the exact words he used, but he was mad about "autists on the site not being able to deal with change for a few hours".
