Ha. Considering dust is more invocative of disuse and sloth, I'd vote for calling the subforum "Phil Burnell and the Empire of Dust" which is novel, fitting, and less likely to yield LiveJournal and DeviantArt pages when put into a search engine.

Is it acceptable for me to edit the DSP original post by 'A Witty Name'?

It's currently a little outdated, but I wasn't sure if that'd be overstepping or if I should just contact them and ask them to consider updating?

Another idea is to make a sticky locked thread based off their OP that you can update every few months or every year.

Something like a "read this first" post concerning the world of Phil, his supporters & his detractors.

And I really think that the General discussion thread discussions should be split into multiple threads, I'll leave the how to you though.

I took 15 mins (Been really bored today) and made a breakdown of the DSP General thread by year, the results are quite interesting, format is [pages] (posts):

2013: [1-15] (#1 to #291)
2014: [15-58] (#292 to #1158)
2015: [58-278] (#1159 to #5541)
2016: [278-878] (#5542 to #17553)
2017: [878-now] (#17554 to current)

You will note that the page count per year EXPLODED in 2016, and the trend is still going upwards. The current & last year account for roughly 70% of the thread.. Not to mention the supporters/detractors threads as well.

I'm gonna see if I can get the timeline document finished once and for all. This document would be very helpful to old and new users who are keeping track on the events of DSP's life.

So there's a discussion currently taking place about potentially splitting up DSP's megathread by year.

It's 1700 pages since 2013. The idea being each year would have a separate thread for DSP "general discussion"

neural spent some time to give us an idea of what it'd look like split into threads by year:
the results are quite interesting, format is [pages] (posts):

2013: [1-15] (#1 to #291)
2014: [15-58] (#292 to #1158)
2015: [58-278] (#1159 to #5541)
2016: [278-878] (#5542 to #17553)
2017: [878-now] (#17554 to current)

If you have any thoughts about this, as it'd be a fairly major change to the current megathread please share them.

From my own perspective I see it as this:
Pros:
-Much easier to browse the megathread

Cons:
-We wouldn't be able to say DSP has a 1700 page thread about him anymore.

I agree we should split up the main thread to make it easier, and that his King of Hate forum should have it's own thread.

One thing I would like to point out that somehow hasn't been pointed out yet is that people need to start making update threads on Phil's activities, much how the CWC and Amberlynn boards operate. Start filling up this board with those threads and I guarantee we'll see a lot of growth here.
