If I sperged deep enough I'd say that one is always in love with the idea of the object, not the object itself. That's why you can tell someone that their partner is an abusive freak but they would tell you GTFO because their image of that "partner" would be different. But holy lol, 5 monthes? It is basically the same as being in love with fictional character , but only with fictional character you don't have to meet them irl after the book ends.

I’ve seen people call this bitch an Angel of Death in the making, and I really can’t disagree.
A number of comments are saying this is fucked up, but sadly I couldn’t get a screenshot of the one that said “well, nurses are like strippers, they pretend to care about you lol”.
(It was labeled 18+, and I’ll be dead in the cold, cold ground before I download Reddit’s stupid app)

From what I understand Bridget's story is to stand up against the pressure of identifying as a woman and preserve his maleness. His bad end has him caving in and accepting that he is to be a girl, kinda like grooming today but more violent.
