I like the last one with "the AI is not a tool". Those people must be living in some Skynet reality where the machines have already done their version of Sistine Chapel. Artist is not about combinatorics or being able to draw a direct line. It's about imagination and ability to see the world differently. I dare the author of the last comment to look at Breugel. The drawing seems to be simple but that is not what makes Breugel a genius.

In a year or two all art software will have elements of the AI implemented. Stop whining and start learning.

Music software has been out there since the 90s that made your shit better. Not even talking about messing with pitch or whatever, but on its own fixing whatever fuck ups you made. Saying nothing about the overall quality of modern music, obviously songwriters and other non-performers still make tons of cash despite this.

The actual process of drawing, or painting - whatever - is enjoyable. It's meditative. It's enjoyable in terms of the finished product, it's enjoyable in terms of observing your own skill level improve and increase over time. Everyone discussing the AI art stuff - people with artistic skill and those without - talk about it as if it's some terrible hardship being inflicted on them. AI has also started writing music, but I don't see musicians freaking out about it, or allowing it to take away what it is they love about playing.

I get why people without the ability to draw anything might think this, but it's bizarre that people with some skill think the same way.

They seem to like referencing this paper (archive), which ties Long SARS to Long Covid. It appears to be a legitimate paper although they did not have all the data from the original study, and the sample sizes are small (50) and biased (Only healthcare workers). Also, odd random inserts such as:

My last tangent on the topic - but you're likely thinking about 'actual' musicians who make actual music that people want to listen to. Besides those, there's a whole industry of people churning out shitty music for shitty purposes. All that royalty-free crap you hear on every Youtube channel, the music playing in the elevator, the random crap playing during news bulletins, the shitty background music during commercials. People have historically been making decent money by creating all of that crap.

There's absolutely a future - within the next few years, or possibly even now - where that disappears. If I'm a sole-hobbyist CGI animator and want some music for my little fan-film, and some software comes along where I can type "EPIC BATTLE MUSIC SORT OF LIKE HANS ZIMMERMAN" into it, and I can define time-stamped moments where I want the music to flare up or whatever - I'll do that, instead of paying someone. If I'm an ad-agency that just needs an upbeat little ukulele number for some local commercial - great, now I can just get a robot to make it.

None of which takes away from the angsty white kid in his bedroom strumming 3 chords on his guitar, some inner-city black kid rapping badly about the shit that annoys him, or the asian kid with bloody fingers learning to play the violin to join some orchestra. All it takes away is the grift from the hacks.

A lot of the AI models out there restrict explicit content and likenesses of real people. The freakouts seem to have amplified with stuff like Lensa (which can create custom portraits of individuals) and Unstable Diffusion (which can make porn) which presumably are the bread and butter of a lot of the people doing commissions on sites like DeviantArt.

Also screeches of misogyny with regards to nonconsensual pornography of real people, even though that's precisely what Rule34 is filled with. Type in "Black Widow" or "Captain America" and you'll see graphic, explicit and photorealistic digital art and photoshops of Scarlet Johannson and Chris Evans. The difference is those creators have a Patreon rather than being an AI, I guess.
