The "our" in "our democracy" is an exclusive possessive, as in "ours, and not yours." Lenin wrote about this. ("State and Revolution," 1917) There's a reason why it's a joke that every oppressive totalitarian communist dictatorship is named something like "the Free Liberated People's Democratic Republic." Democracy, you see, is great - so long as the electorate doesn't have False Consciousness (a "bourgeois democracy"). What is False Consciousness? You see, Capitalists have constructed a vision of the world that infects your mind and prevents you from realizing that Revolution is not only possible, but inevitable. Communists would LOVE for you to vote - but if you don't vote for a communist dictator, then it's not really your vote, it's the Capitalists voting through you because they've infected you with False Consciousness. Communism is so eternally and self-evidently true, that the only reason someone wouldn't vote for the "the solution to the problem of history, that knows itself to be that solution" (Marx, "Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts," 1844) is because you've been brainwashed. After all, to quote Mao Zedong, "to not have correct political opinions is to not have a soul" ("On the Correct Handling of Contradictions Among the People," 1957)
