I wonder if it's possible to do a study to determine how fake reddit is. It's basically an open secret that the 50,000 daily ATTENTION REDDIT IT IS TIME FOR TWO MINUTES HATE threads are paid for by superpacs and populated by low caste Indians getting paid 5 cents an hour to copy paste clichés into the comments, but is there any way of knowing exactly how bad the damage is?

I suppose the answer is just "bad enough to write the entire site off". Not even the average redditor can deny how astroturfed and jannied that shithole is. They just think it's a good thing. Or it's all sockpuppets pretending to think it's a good thing because they're being paid to. Doesn't really matter either way.

I think the only way that could be done is by seeing now many posts get 1 time posters(people that made an account to post one thing and never use it again) or those who exclusively post on political subs with similar comments. I think there would be a few more things to check but its a good start. If i had to guess i would say that most poltical subs are 50/50. I think the more outlandish stuff or the cliches are mostly just bots or sweatshop workers while the normal histrionics is normal redditard behavior. As for the large subs i think like 80% are bots because everything is so uniform from one post to the next it goes beyound a hive mind

Notice the positive karma on the comment, found on r/democrat. The guy also believes climate change is going to cause doomsday, is a proud communist and owns a shotgun, according to his post history.

They have literally been crying about climate change killing us in x timeframe thats a handful of years for 60 years now. These people don't understand that the Earth has hot and cold cycles.

Can't be talking about black culture, otherwise the wrong people might be correctly blamed.

The college counselor trying to pressure him to change his mind and go to fucking Grambling instead. Said he was turning his back on his community by going to Stanford.

This is actually something that is seen in Aboriginal communities in Australia. High achieving students go off to university, successfully complete their degrees, and all they want to do is help their communities. They go back to their communities and are basically told to fuck off, that by leaving and getting an education, and wanting to help others achieve the same/similar, they have put themselves on a pedestal, and don't deserve to come back to the community.

This is Reddit in a nutshell. Someone posts obvious satire and you get 10,000 comments like "omg how can someone be that DUMB people are realy DUMB my braincells just fucking died of how DUMB this is this makes no fucking sense why are DUMB people so confident while I the intellectual am so self-conscious Dunning-Kruger effect amritie jesus so DUMB".
I don't even know why they bother repeating the same vapid shit over and over, just upvote the first comment that says "it's dumb" to show you agree with it and be done with it. But I guess Redditeurs have to circlejerk how much of intellectuals they are.

That's reddit in a nutshell for a very long time now. Everything turns into a circlejerk, even a single joke gets repeated in comments then milked to death with people just repeating the expected responses. What little 'new' stuff is made gets ran into the dirt within a matter of days. The infamous 'Arrow to the Knee' meme is an excellent example of what Reddit does to literally anything.

But why though? Reading Reddit is so tedious. The same vapid shit repeated over and over again. The only good subreddits IMO are 1) communities centered around some topic where you go to ask a question and get an answer, and 2) subs with very specific content, for example r/ATBGE and the like, when there's not too much leeway for what you can post and most content is neutral (but comments are usually cancer too).
Everything else is subs like r/Facepalm and r/MurderedByWords and r/InsanePeopleFacebook and tons upon tons of subs like that which are just circlejerks for dunking on STUPID DUMB people, which consist 50% of obvious satire and jokes and 50% of people who don't subscribe to the hive mind's worldview.
I just don't get it how these people get a kick out of typing and upvoting the same tired phrases for the 1000th time this week.
Just make r/SubredditSimulator the front page of Reddit and get rid of humans, they don't contribute anything meaningful.

They feel good when they see people who share their opinions repeat that opinion. They like the feeling of getting Karma which they are most likely taking as 'Good job!' points. Most people aren't the type to stoke their creativity or to put much effort into making things.

Its also because many do not have a 'community' of some form to regularly interact with anymore so they feel a sense of belonging to these places. They'll parrot things being said, pick up verbal ticks, and on down the line. That's not unique to any group though that's a regular trait for most social animals.

I wonder how many times that has been repeated in this thread

So basically us then
