Regarding the apparent and imminent repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the future of this website.

he's formed a community that most site runners would kill for
lol this site is made up of two groups of people. One is a mass of assholes who love to mock everything and the other half are political zealots that no other website would take after theirs got shut down. Nobody else wants this mass of people.

Serious question: how difficult would it be to just wipe the whole site off the clearnet and run it exclusively on Tor so that it's completely under the radar? No official owner, no legal entity that could be sued for it, just an onion site that's hosted god knows where.

There's shit that's patently illegal on Tor, right? All this site has to worry about is crazy litigious assholes armed with paper, which by comparison... well, they're not the feds.
Considering I'm versed in darknet/Tor related things, let me inform you how that would look.

Tor infrastructure gets clogged to shit because everyone starts using it.

Every admin of every website which would normally be protected by 230 would need to remain 100000% anonymous or get their ass federally kicked.

Every website using an .onion would need to be armed to the teeth in defense against spambots and DoS attacks (a task not insanely feasible without the use of tens of thousands in funding or Google's captcha noise)

And everyone using said site would now be potentially hunted by feds looking to break up communities and invoke fear on a daily basis.

I'm not saying it's impossible.

But the only people I've seen in the modern day who properly understand opsec, compartmentalization and overall security are current active top-hat darknetters who actively commit identity theft, offer blackhat services, or are kingpins.

On one hand it would force everyone to learn this shit starting immediately, on the other hand most of you are going to jail.

This is actually the main reason why I've been a darknet researcher for the past 7 years.

I've actively held this thought of "if the USA gov were to ever go tyrannical, current darknet infrastructure would be the last safe haven on earth."

What I didn't realize is that 7 years later almost nobody on clearnet would be prepared for it.

Fuck the elites and the people that drank the kool aid for social status.
This includes the corporate shills that wax poetic about how great communism or socialism is.
Silencing the masses will be their eventual undoing. The repeaing of 230 and proposed appeal of the 1st ammendement by some politicians really shows what fucking short sighted political tyrants we're dealing with here.
It just sucks they managed to play trump like a damn fiddle. There's no way he'll even benefit from rage-repealing 230 over people that want it removed in the first place censoring his ass. Dumb move, they're still gonna go for his ass and probably find some loophole immunity. Sad times ahead, but don't let them rule over you through shame and fear.

Gents, it's been a pleasure making the internet great again with you. May your sons grow up men and your daughters never date niggers. I will miss you all.

Everyone itt blaming trump when the op explicitly says biden wants the same thing.

Too bad nobody took trump up on fixing it. Too bad the democrats want hate speech laws and more censorship.
Kill yourself. On the bright side, Trump is such a bumbling retard that this might be the best possible thing he's done in his presidency- protecting 230 solely through the action of reverse psychology.

Nigger.

To be clear, not calling Null one (this time).

Just saying online while I still can.
And people will defend it, both the /pol/tards unaware it'll kill their "meme magic", and the mindless rednecks and relegious nutjobs who voted him in. Because like it or lump it, 230 is really the only thing allowing any of them to post anything and get away with nothing more than mockery or a ban.

What an insane thing that in America, a haven for free speech such as the farms would even have to consider going underground...

But this is like... The last place on the internet that I can say NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER online and laugh at weird shit with people who aren't retards themselves. Literal oppression
Every curtain must close in time... Call it the Jews, 'Big corporations', the Powers that be, The Man, globohomo, trannies, whatever the fuck term you want to use it's all clear... It's all about making it no fun allowed.
Let's just hope we can have something resembling of a last laugh before then. I mean, the very fact that this website exists and is the constant source of CRIPPLING ANXIETY in the minds of so many and will continue to live rent free in the minds of so many crazy bitches out there long after it's all gone must be worth something.

I sincerely hope it is not to be so. But know it is a very real threat and the retards who are thinking Trump is based for this can fuck themselves, "Big Tech" will literally be the only ones who will be able to defend themselves, literally nothing positive will happen, we're all headed for the same boring end of all fun anyway. All this does is fuck over well meaning friendly and totally wholesome welcoming gaming communities such as a New Zealand based fruit farming discussion board and prevent its existence for good.

This response is a non sequitur. Net neutrality not being passed was supposed to be the end of the internet.

As you'll notice, the internet is still here.

No, what i am saying is nobody will think this is the end of anything unlike NN.

Its just a possible slight injection of AIDS. Niggas aint screaming about the sky falling.

I used to think that repealing 230 would be an explosion of new small websites when content creators get banned off big tech for being de facto publishers.
Then I realized that cloudflare would just shut you down if you said the nigger word. It's the exact same censorship as current 230, but extended to the entire internet, not just these top 5 sites. If they could get rid of Daily Stormer and 8chan just because they're mean, they'll get rid of your little personal video hosting site too.

Now where will I make libelous claims and direct harassment at people I dont like?

The lolcow farms are the problem, the free speech a&h, deep thoughts, etc are the parts of the site with some value, even though the shit lolcow moderators ruin that a bit.

There's nothing noble about doxing and harassing people. Boohoo I might be liable for the damage I purposely inflict!

Lol you don't even know what section 230 is or does if you think it has anything to do with bad words.

Every public site will be fucked, so what's the alternative, everyone going back to IRC?
Not even typical IRC implementations. They still involve centralized services which would then be vulnerable to suits for what people say on their service.

There'd need to be a decentralized forum solution where the individual participants themselves are only distributing their own content on request, content they're already legally liable for anyway.

(And actually, how would quoting someone else's post work, legally? 🤔)

All this to laugh at autists?
I'm in.
