Serious question: how difficult would it be to just wipe the whole site off the clearnet and run it exclusively on Tor so that it's completely under the radar? No official owner, no legal entity that could be sued for it, just an onion site that's hosted god knows where.
There's shit that's patently illegal on Tor, right? All this site has to worry about is crazy litigious assholes armed with paper, which by comparison... well, they're not the feds.
Considering I'm versed in darknet/Tor related things, let me inform you how that would look.
Tor infrastructure gets clogged to shit because everyone starts using it.
Every admin of every website which would normally be protected by 230 would need to remain 100000% anonymous or get their ass federally kicked.
Every website using an .onion would need to be armed to the teeth in defense against spambots and DoS attacks (a task not insanely feasible without the use of tens of thousands in funding or Google's captcha noise)
And everyone using said site would now be potentially hunted by feds looking to break up communities and invoke fear on a daily basis.
I'm not saying it's impossible.
But the only people I've seen in the modern day who properly understand opsec, compartmentalization and overall security are current active top-hat darknetters who actively commit identity theft, offer blackhat services, or are kingpins.
On one hand it would force everyone to learn this shit starting immediately, on the other hand most of you are going to jail.
This is actually the main reason why I've been a darknet researcher for the past 7 years.
I've actively held this thought of "if the USA gov were to ever go tyrannical, current darknet infrastructure would be the last safe haven on earth."
What I didn't realize is that 7 years later almost nobody on clearnet would be prepared for it.
