Lol you probably believe this.

@Null, we've had this conversation before.

Power leveling: nothing in the proposed legislation will affect you. There will be a basement threshold on enforcement you fall well below.

Don't talk to me about slippery slope and stop scaring the shit out of everyone.

I like to stay optimistic, so here's hoping that the rest of the politicians aren't as retarded as Trump and will understand that axing 230 will cause a massive shitshow, so the worst that will happen will be some reforms and the Internet won't be strangled. If that won't be the case, then all I can say is, I really liked hanging around on this site for the last year or so, and thank you for putting up with running this place Null.

He’s not, it’s just one last empty threat. He threatened to veto these bills over the base renaming, and that’s already been forgotten about.
I think this is entirely possible, just based on how Trump usually operates. A lot of his Twitter posting is just big talk that isn't often backed by action. I still expect 230 to eventually get trashed, but I give it a couple more years at least. Immediate action and government don't exactly mix.

You vote for biden when he says he's gonna repeal 230, then cry about Trump doing the same thing.

Lefty twitter won't be as fun if you can't make death threats and spin false stories about Republicans and right leaning celebrities.

I'm fairly sure people who voted for biden did not vote for biden so he could repeal 230, just like people didn't vote for trump so he could repeal 230. The presidents aren't a cult, we can agree with some of their choices and disagree with others.

because CNN and fox news (television so it's outside of 230) never spin false stories and still despite being sued manages to survive because get this, they have lawyers and money to protect them.

There is nothing to gain here by trump, this is not a 3d chess move, there is NO gains at all for anyone right wing here.

Section 230 has nothing to do with free speech. It is a protection for sites so they don't get slammed with a lawsuit when Ted says "damn my neighbor Tom is a real pedophile", if you think removing a protection will make the current climate your a retard who needs to be shot.

Everyone here hates A&H and the board deserves to be deleted if retards like you will slip in here and say "muh trump good, muh biden bad"
In a way, it kind of does have to do with freedom of speech. Just not freedom from the government censoring you. It's freedom from any Russel, Karen, or Greta censoring via litigation.

i like how most of the fans of trump, forget that trump used to be a member of DNC/ Democrat party.

What are the prospects of kiwifarms.cc staying up if this comes to pass? I could probably just go there if the farms proper go down.

Britbong here that doesn't understand US law, I sincerely hope that the site doesn't go down as I have more freedom on this site then I do in my own flat.

If it does, I will miss this last holdout of the old Internet.

Also, be careful about 'Going Ghost', we all know what happened to the last guy that did that.

Ya know I was going to again bring up the tech sphere lobbying element into why the gubmint will likely be even slower than normal in doing anything about section 230, but it literally just occured to me that there might be another possibly even more influential force who would want to kill this shit in the bud

The glowies.

Without a halfway "wild west" internet allowed to exist, vast numbers of fed-speds will have to do actual fucking work in order to justify their paychecks instead of just posting bait in social media/forums/imageboards or copypasting shitposts in youtube comment sections, and I can guarantee that they would rather 9/11 happen ten times over than have to actually get their manicured hands dirty with grunt work.

Aside from this, there is almost certainly a whole lot of operations in play/plan that need the internet open and free enough for various shit to be tracked and monitored easily without the need for pesky court orders or such.

50% selfishly dismayed I might be losing my daily dose of pointing and laughing at Greer and deathfats.
50% genuinely upset because KF is fucking necessary, dammit. One of the last outposts of free Internet culture and a lovingly curated archive of classic autism. I will never understand why this place is so misunderstood.

If the worst comes to worst, I'll see all you exceptional individuals on whatever ersatz platform we end up on.
