Report: EA Is Remastering The ‘Mass Effect’ Trilogy At Long Last (Unconfirmed)

I'm not planning on buying the remaster at all, but I do want to know what they did with the multiplayer requirements in single player, because from what I remember it was only possible to get the best endings in 3 without playing the multiplayer by importing a save from the previous two games with certain choices.
They removed the multiplayer requirements with the Extended Cut ending way back when.

And it turns out you need Origin to run in the background to play the game.
What the hell is even the point of a Steam release if you need Origin to run the damn game anyway? This is some multilayer onion made up of several different clients/accounts/DRM systems and bullshit.
Ease of use, if nothing else.

Ubisoft did the same with their games anyway, so it's just the same tier of retardation with big publishers who think their shit doesn't stink.

Looks more like gray skin to me, especially considering the model for the original photo is Afghani in real life. I do prefer the purple/blue skin of the original, though.
afghani or not, original wasn't that brown

to be fair they might have changed it based on the fan speculation that was pretty popular back then, but what's the point now?

pretty sure that changed even before the EC, only touched multiplayer after finishing it, and I got enough score for the ending. the multiplayer requirement was a big complaint quite soon.

in ubisoft's defense there's actual value in that for us customers tho, and uplay works without much fuss while origin is barely above epic game store quality.

Fair. I only used Origins to acquire The Sims 2 when it was free, and it did what it needed to at the time: install the game and fuck off. (Incidentally, I think you cannot buy TS2 in any shape or form these days.)

I did hear Origins customer service was one of the better ones at least, allowing refunds no question asked.

yeah, in the first 24h or two weeks if you never started it (iirc). pretty lenient, and even has live chat which is always great for normies. plus free trials for most of their games, but those come with their own usual EA bullshit where it only works half the time when not telling you to fuck off with a nondescript error message most normies won't even bother with (for example origin doesn't activate a trial because you activated another demo too recently or some shit, it was pretty retarded and annoying last time I had to deal with it).

bigger issue is that it likes to shit itself since it's some crappy bloated web 2.0 html wrapper to the point you can't even play your games when you only get blank page. it also misses some convenience features like finding installed games (there's a workaround but origin still wants to treat it like a full install, which is great when you have your stuff on a SSD or something and it starts complaining there isn't enough space, even tho the files are already there).

TLDR: even when their customer service is good, doesn't matter when their client is dogshit, because that's what's important for most people and lot of normies will never bother with CS anyway.

I thought they just toned it down to "you can now reasonably get the perfect ending if you played the other two games and made certain choices" instead of outright removing it? I recall before the Extended Cut that even if you played the first two games you still had to play a bit of the multiplayer to get enough war score.

Yeah, trying to find and repair installs when I put old drives into a new PC required multiple deletions and reinstalls of Origin because it was caught in a crash loop.

Looks like the mod author of ThaneMOD, ME2: Recalibrated, and ME3: Recalibrated is throwing a tantrum over the idea of someone recreating their mods for LE. They took down all of their mods.

He ends his post with: "Stay safe, everyone… and get vaccinated."
He can go fuck himself.

Man fuck that guy, I hope the other modders aren't this hypersensitive. More than any other game I've played, mods are basically essential for ME3. It would be a shame if new players lose access to the mods that remove the most irritating parts of the story (Kai Leng and the Starchild).

I've never played any Mass Effect so I'd be going in totally blind, but I also don't want to play an inferior product to the original, so not sure what to do quite yet.

It's mostly an improvement on the original. I'm not a fan of how much they brightened everything though, and there are a couple weird face animation glitches. Also apparently the mouse controls are still shit so if you're on PC that could be a problem.

Yeah, basically. According to the Wiki, the original version required you to get an EMS rating of 4000, which wasn't possible with just the campaign. You had to play multiplayer if you wanted the best ending. The Extended Cut lowered that down to 3100, which was much more manageable. It was a bit tricky if you didn't do absolutely everything, but you also didn't have to touch the multiplayer. If you got the DLC then it became flat out trivial. I don't know how doable it is if you just jump into 3 without playing the first two though.

Admittedly, all my info is coming from the Wiki since I didn't play ME3 until a couple years ago, so maybe they did something before the release of the Extended Cut. Even so, there is a pretty huge gap in EMS requirements between vanilla ME3 and the Extended Cut.

It's hilarious. The camera no longer focuses on her butt but now lingers on her tits. 10/10 effort Bioware.
Please understand, Bioware is small indie dev.
And he took it down because Nexus is allowing "remakes" of his mods for the remaster. That's right, he's not mad that Nexus is allowing ports of his mods, because apparently that's not possible with how Mass Effect's modding tools work, he's mad that someone is allowed to remake his mods from the ground up with their own work because he believes he owns the "ideas" to the mods he made. Because apparently no one would ever think of a mod that allows Thane to survive or mods that fix lore inaccuracies and bugs.

A lot of modders are really cool but modding communities in general attract some serious prima donnas.
LOL isnt that what mods do in the first place tho, pretty hypocritical of the guy imo

it means EA gets the benefits of putting it on a more popular launcher while having the control of using origin, it's scummy but not unexpected as games like Fallen Order also do that gay shit.

Lol I knew this thread was gonna be bumping. What the actual fuck is wrong with Bioware lmao, why is fucking Larian making Baldur's Gate 3 oh yeah cause they sold one of their most beloved properties.
