Considering how Pfizer etc. is treated (i.e. literally using their bribes of the State to have themselves protected from any and all prosecution), keeping Umbrella around would be totally believably. Like pedojoe biden's handlers legislating he and his ilk from being tried for their crimes right before his demented ass was wheeled out of the oval office. Also, RE is totally already Lovecraftian Horror, look at G-Birkin and tell me that isn't a ghoulish Lovecraftian monster design. Themes-wise sure it isn't going hardcore into Space aliens etc., but the monsters designs, especially the tentacular ones, are absolutely Lovecraftian. Hell the dogs from RE4 are right out of John Carpenter's "The Thing", and the genado village is very Innsmouth-esque.

I really just want them to tell a good story at this point. They're almost as bad as 343 / Halo studios. Where the big reveal at the end of a game is just dropped for the next one. Are they releasing official novels or some shit to fill the gaps?

It isn't, its supposed to be a farce on him becoming Davinci's Vitruvian Man, a cancerous growth of a human using copies of his own organs, including a copy of his own brain, twisted to suit the new being, which is also a copy of Birkin twisted, easily the most horrific of all the transformations in the series, as unlike the other two outcomes, the one where they lose their minds (zombies and the like) and the ones where they perfectly keep their Sentience.. G-Entities have it the worst of both, another entirely seperate copy of you grows out of you, has all your memories and capabilities, but lacks the spark of empathy or anything but your Id, Birkin's 2nd brain was just a modulated copy of his original, stripped of those elements that would stop him from doing what the new entity wanted, it was so controlling and unnatural that it fromulated this before it even grew the brain to replace his nervous system inputs.

You're crazy.

just give me mercenaries
I want the intensity of RE5 Mercenaries No Mercy mode 6's mercenaries even in No Mercy is too easy.

RE5 Mercenaries No Mercenaries mode feels like the initial trailer of RE5 where you are actually swarmed by a lot of enemies and that will cause you to panic

Typical White guy trying to get home after a day at the office through the south side of Chicago.

It's because they grew up on the classic RE games. When the franchise pivoted away from "survival horror" and leaned harder into action, some people felt betrayed by it.
I grew up with them, I just didn't need another one. There's at least 10 of those classic style games and survival horror was so oversaturated for 2 generations that there's so many games I still havent played if I wanted a new one like them. But ya know what I do instead? I end up replaying the classics.

The other thing is that 4 is one of the greatest games ever made so I can't really complain.

no I'm not lol, there's nothing Cosmic or Abyssal about it, its just a pile of human organs in unnatural shapes and sizes stuck together.
And while for a few moments you might feel some sort of visceral disgust and horror at what you're looking at, that feeling goes away when you remember you have three more shots from your rocket launcher left, and enough magnum bullets to wage a small scale gang-war in LA.

There is a 50/50 chance the next RE is a fixed cam tank controls RE. The amount of PS1 slop survival horror games out there at the moment matches the amount of Amnesia style walking sims that lead to RE7. I can see he RE1 remake being fixed camera even if it's using the RE engine. RE1 is really hard to make into a TPS or FPS as it's all corridors and with Capcom always chasing fads it's a very real possibility.

some are quite good, Tormented Souls 2 is better than alot of the OG RE games in some ways (and not so much in others), very decent game with a few good gimmicks.

I refuse to acknowledge the notion that OG RE 1 - 3 are survival horror where you have to ration out and save your bullets and healing to survive (well probably except RE2 Sourcenext Hard Mode)

all those RE, including CV gives you so much ammo that i didnt know what to do with it. In fact when I was playing CV and before the final boss, I have so much weapons and ammo, I still have 20 flame arrow shots, 130% AK, 20 grenade rounds, 10 acid rounds, 20 flame rounds, 300 normal bolts, 300 handgun bullets, 30 shotgun shells, 12 magnum rounds.

In fact, I think the new RE games have more survival horror aspect to them that is attributed to old games by the fact that you can softlock yourself if you miss a lot of your shots

I would classify the OG RE games as adventure games with combat.

There really isnt anything that would make it too difficulty to play in 1st or 3rd person. They already proved they can make it work with lost in nightmares, 7, and the best parts of 9. Worst case scenario they make the mansion bigger, which they need to do anyway. All these other mansions and castles that have been added in later entries have left the og Spencer mansion looking pretty small.

Guys. On my 50th play through of RE1 where I know where all the items and enemies are I had loads of ammo left.

This is modern Capcom. They're cutting the residence building entirely and giving Jill a sexy Grace costume if you pre order.

RE7 isn't just hallways, it has a lot of open space to move around. RE1 really doesn't. It is literally hallways all over the place. And the design doesn't suit modern RE's enemies or movement.

I beat RE2 when it came out, I was probably about 11-13, I distinctly remember having so much ammo at the end of Leon A and Clair B that I didn't know what to do with it all.
Ammo is never the problem, its making dumb mistakes and getting hurt too much between the next healing item as a dumb kid, you basically can't really run out of ammo past getting to the RPD.

i killed the first fuck off retard with leon and without grace this shit would have been a 6/10 . i cant stand her tardiness and her scary little girl act even in the fucking gameplay with her sorry respiration. if emily turns to be a monster or you have to kill her for some reason im going to be angry at capcom and their predictable dogshit writting (dont spoil this)

I mean Grace is scared but that doesn't stop her from walking into a pitchblack room with The Girl while trying to start a forklift or w/e, its still pretty commendable bravery, most people would just shut down and get eaten.

Found an interesting video on RE9's development. It doesn't say much but what it did explains a lot. RE9 we got isn't the original design. After RE7 failed to meet early sales they decided to go for an open world coop shooter with Jill and Leon. Development started on this and then RE7's sales really picked up and Capcom were in a mess because now they had RE7 selling more than any other title, with it's first person VR focus and RE2 remake / 4 fanbase wanting more of that. The "2nd" RE9 after they tossed out the original was going to be a Leon focused survival horror game rather than an action game, but they thought Leon was too experienced for that at this point. So they made Grace, to put into Leon's environments as an RE7 style experience. We return to RPD because it's assets they already had and could repurpose. Same reason Mr X returns and the mirrored boss version. The reason Grace disappears for so long is because she was never part of the original (2nd) design. She was added so they could milk RE7's fan base some more. The video claimed Capcom were in contact with e celebs telling them how to hype up Grace and say it's her game. Because they knew everyone would like Leon and want Leon, with Grace being a side character no one cared for. Intentionally hiding Leon and instructing youtube on how to respond to Grace despite her being a secondary character they did a hatch job on the game to fit in.

Jill being unpopular in RE3:make, RE7 not selling 10 million copies week 1 and 2/4 remake being popular has lead to this shit show. Capcom's development pipeline is so tight they don't have time to adapt and learn from the previous game. So when something doesn't go as expected it all falls apart and they fall back on RE2 nostalgia. And remember they killed off the entire Outbreak cast to make this. In a note.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=7Yn6gHlWzvoThe early RE9 prototype footage at the start is cool if you just want to see the proto types.
Interestingly this actually confirms a lot of dusk golems leak tweets. According to him they seem to be seriously considering a series reboot
